Although Sado Island is quite large, there are not many fancy restaurants and cafes so I was really lucky to get a seat at the Shukunegi Yamashita Cafe serving Italian pasta with local flair, I have never had so much seaweed in my pasta and so delicious!
Also very lucky that a friend took me to this one and only seafront cafe Shimafumi in very relaxing atmosphere and with beautiful ocean views and their own small Monet garden & waterlilies pond! Sado Island is so huge, you totally need a car to get around as their buses have a horrible inaka schedule, some areas have just 3 buses a day and so the transfer time can take hours in between buses to get to final destination. This is the biggest minus of Sado and not only tourist like me but even elderly locals have a hard time with the transport and shopping.
