An Okinawan born and raised in Okinawa, I will introduce various beaches in Okinawa with underwater videos.
The beach I will introduce to you is John Man Beach, also known as Odohama Beach, located in Itoman City. The name of this beach comes from the fact that John Manjiro landed on the beach when he returned to Okinawa.
Swimming in the reef of John Man Beach at low tide, I found it full of fish and corals. Many spiny lobsters came to me and pecked at my hand even though I didn’t feed them.
John Man Beach is a well-known local beach for diving and surfing. Families playing on the beach are often seen at the tide pools.
The water depth inside the reef at John Man Beach is roughly 1 to 4 meters. The tides are gentle at low tide, making this beach a good choice for snorkeling beginners and those with small children.
If you want to swim in the natural ocean of Okinawa on a sightseeing trip, John Man Beach is a good choice. Even with small children, it is fine. Please take a look at it as a reference.
