Two gardens in one day was over-kill even though completely different. Sengen-en Gardens in Kagoshima was built in 1658 as the villa for the Shimadzu family. Although the gardens are Japanese in style, Chinese influences can be seen throughout.
Great souvenir shops in Sengen-en Gardens; leave enough time to browse and I loved the Cat Shrine, very unique in Japan and I would think, anywhere. Our group didn’t have enough time to visit the residence or hike up one of the beautiful trails after a day filled with public transportation and sightseeing.
I don’t want to turn back time but I would love to add a few more hours into each day…
