⑥ More information on the locations I’ve visited in this video:
▶ SAMEGAI
Samegai-juku is a former post town located in Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. It was a crucial stopping point on the Nakasendo, one of the five major routes of the Edo period (1603-1868) that connected Kyoto with Edo (present-day Tokyo). Samegai-juku is located approximately 60 kilometers northeast of Kyoto and 300 kilometers west of Tokyo.
Samegai-juku was an important hub for travelers and merchants during the Edo period. At that time, there were around 70 inns and other businesses in Samegai-juku, providing travelers with food, lodging, and other services. Some of these inns and businesses have been preserved and are still in operation today, giving visitors a glimpse into the past.
One of the notable features of Samegai-juku is its traditional architecture. The town has several historic buildings that have been preserved, including the old post office, which was built in 1876 and is now a museum. Other notable buildings include the Akimoto family residence, which is a traditional Japanese-style house with a thatched roof, and the Samegai-juku Honjin, which was a high-class inn for feudal lords and other VIPs.
Today, Samegai-juku is a popular tourist destination for those interested in Japanese history and culture. Visitors can walk along the preserved streets and visit the various museums and historic buildings. The town also hosts several events throughout the year, including a festival in May and a flea market in October.
To reach Samegai-juku, visitors can take the JR Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen from Tokyo or Osaka to Maibara Station, and then transfer to a local train or bus to Samegai-juku. Alternatively, visitors can drive to Samegai-juku, which is located near the Meishin Expressway.
▶ MAIBARA
Maibara City is a city located in Shiga Prefecture, Japan. It is situated in the northeastern part of the prefecture and has a population of approximately 45,000 people. The city is known for its beautiful natural scenery, including Lake Biwa, which is the largest freshwater lake in Japan. Maibara City is also home to Samegai-juku, a former post town on the Nakasendo, one of the five major routes of the Edo period. The city is easily accessible by train from Kyoto, Osaka, and Nagoya, making it a popular tourist destination for those seeking a peaceful getaway from the bustling cities.

So beautiful ❤
So calm environment. So relaxing place for a walk. Thanks for the tour.
I really enjoyed this walk! Such an amazing atmosphere with the canals running in front of and in between houses! Definitely a place I want to explore, most likely in 2024! By the way, the 5th anniversary of my last visit to Japan is drawing near! The beautiful, smooth stones sticking out of the ground at 6:36 are awesome!😁
This scenery makes me want to go there. The good old Japanese scenery heals me. Thanks for sharing this nice video.👍👍💕💕
