During my trip to New York munching on a pastrami and rye from Katz, I noticed a long line up forming a few blocks down… Why were people there? I had to ask and discovered one of New Yorks finest places for lox and bagels was right there at Russ & Daughters. How fortuitous and we mustn’t turn down an opportunity. Inside the crowded location and barely making it in the door, we are greeted with hard working folks slicing bagels and there was David, thinly shaving sheets of lucious salmon making the perfect bagel sandwich with a touch a smoked sable fish.
Not having a place to sit and eat there, we made do with a park bench and a crowd of admiring pigeons. But little did we know, after waking a few more blocks down, Russ & Daughters also has a cafe with seating and even a bar! We had to go back and that we did…for one of the finest NY breakfasts we’ve had.
Immediately being greeted and welcomed by the kind servers and hosts, we headed straight to our table and ordered up a storm with a little encouragement from Eric. From Matzo Ball soup, to a platter of all their wonderful salmon, kippers, smoked sable, and seemingly endless bagels and spreads, we barely had room for dessert. And if you do decide to visit, make sure to save room for that all important and tasty cinnamon Babka French toast!

Yummy
Wonderful dishes
This video made me miss New York. The food looks fantastic!
I prefer not to mix 2 different fish onto the bread, but to eat them separately in order to appreciate the individual flavor of each fish.
Delicious
Oh my goodness! Heaven on a platter! Thanks for sharing Tim!
Thanks Tim 👍😊🇹🇹
I wonder if guacamole spread would work in that sandwich. Sure looks good. Or some crab meat 💯
I hope that the both of y'all enjoy your selves in New York city and safe travels 🙏.
Hey Tim, I grew up on Long Island and currently live in NYC, so needless to say I've been eating great bagels my whole life. However, I also lived in Montreal for five years, so I've become very familiar with their iconic bagels as well. Since you're Canadian, I'm curious about which one you like better! Personally I think it's a tie because they're so different from each other. It's been years since I've been to Montreal, and sometimes I still really crave those St-Viateur and Fairmount bagels 🤤
FYI: Those onions inside the bialy are intentional (that's basically what makes it a bialy). Challah is never eaten with cream cheese (that's what those bagels on the platter are for). If you want to truly enjoy challah in all its glory, just schmear it with butter. Glad you enjoyed everything though!
Hey Tim, have you ever gone to the Crab House in NYC for all you can eat seafood including lobster, and if not, why not?
The carbs and salmon look good .
Yqw, Tim 💘
Nice video. Looked delicious. Nice review. Thanks and take care.
Hi tim great video I really Enjoy eating lox w/ rye/pumpernickel bread the dessert looked scrumptious as well. As always thank you for sharing be safe
I don't know why tourists flock here. There are a lot of places for good bagels in NYC. It's like going to Disney World to think you're seeing real mid evil castles lol.
To the day I die, I will never understand wy restaurants refuse to provide knives that actually cut. Butter knives are nothing but spreaders.
Ooooh look goood wish that in San Francisco does have like that and I’d love to try this 😊
I love it when Asians say schmear. And mishegoss.
that was awsome ty for sharing lots of great choices
22-28$ dollars for a bagle, sheesh
Great to see you had company today…🥰
Love it
You did a nice job. It’s not your doing but these bagels don’t look good.
Tim on a long date. Hope you ask had fun!
Tim, my favorite part of the video was not actually the food, but the "old school" decor, even the cups & dishes; & the glass dividers to separate each booth. It was like an old diner with a modern touch. My parents owned a diner when I was a child – brings back memories.
Really daft question from the uk. What does a motza ball taste like? I imagine a suet dumpling or a boiled chicken kind of taste?
I really like your show ❤😊❤ enjoy 😊
I really like your show ❤😊❤ enjoy 😊
Not the Lox but I still love my Everything bagel with plain cream cheese and radish the most 🤗it was the first I have eaten (though without radish) and it got me back then
Tim that looks fantastic. I just saw a video on this place.
If you ever come to denver for work or fun, we have a wonderful bagel place (the only one) called The Bagel Deli! But you would want to try green chili here.
The chocolate babka is so good
