There is no place as magical as switzerland. St Moritz at an elevation of 1,856 meters boasts plenty of sun sunny days. It was actually this sun that was designated the emblem of this town in 1930.
Glacier express – the ultimate train experience. Travelling through 291 bridges and 91 tunnels in 8 hours arrives from Zermatt to St. Moritz at an altitude of 1,800 meter.
In this magnificent train ride on Glacier Express the viewers get lost in what is one of the most impressive and romantic train journey of the World. Over a century ago lovers of travel and the wild ‘discovered’ the Alps, and quiet mountain villages such as Zermatt and St Moritz.
Track between Zermatt and st mortiz was completed in 1930. Now was the time for a luxury train between Zermatt and St. Moritz. The “Glacier Express” became reality. On 25 June 1930 the first “Glacier Express” left Zermatt on a truly unique journey literally through the mountains. In the 1980s and 90s the “Glacier Express” grew from what had humorously become known as the ‘the world’s slowest express’ into one of Switzerland’s top attractions. This was helped by the use of comfortable panorama coaches and passenger service of an extremely high standard. Today, many tens of thousands from across the world make the journey annually – “Glacier Express” had grown into ‘Perhaps the Ultimate Train Experience’.
