In this video I show you how the International Students Residence Halls in Kagoshima University (Shimoarata location) look (single room, family room, couple’s room).
Then, I show you how other apartments look in comparison. Students can only stay in a dormitory room for a maximum period of 6 months if they’re on the Monbukagakusho (MEXT) scholarship. If they’re on another scholarship or payment plan, the maximum period is usually 1 year. So if you come to “Kadai” (short for Kagoshima University, or Kagoshima Daigaku), you will be able to stay in the dorms, then afterwards, you’ll have to find your own apartment. Of course, the University Co-op can assist you with that.
There were 2 apartments that we liked but they didn’t take foreigners so it’s best to get help from the University.
Then I show the convenient stores (conbini) that are near Kadai dorms and the Researchers’ rooms (look from the outside only) which is 3 mins walk from the international students’ dorms.
