ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー

D: We’re back in Hamamatsu. Our trip to the US was amazing, but there’s nothing like being home.
M: Definitely.
D: As soon as we got back, we visited the Taiga Drama Pavilion next to the Hamamatsu Castle Park.
M: Yeah, it was great. But wasn’t it still in the pre-opening phase when we went?
D: That’s right. But the pre-opening phase has ended now, and the grand-opening is set for March 18th.
M: I can’t wait for it.

D: During the pre-opening phase, we were able to see an exhibition of Tokugawa Ieyasu as depicted in past Taiga dramas.
M: Yeah, the panoramic timeline display of the dramas was really cool.
D: It was great to look back on all the past Taiga dramas there.

D: The building with the black walls is the Taiga Drama Pavilion.
M: The exterior looks nice, doesn’t it?
D: The black luster is beautiful. Hamamatsu is known for producing pianos, so the black glossy design is called “piano black.”
M: I love the concept!

D: In this area, there used to be Motoshiro Elementary School, which was the oldest elementary school in Hamamatsu City. It’s said that the ruins of Hamamatsu Castle are still underneath the area. Excavations have been conducted in recent years.
M: I’ve heard that.

M: We saw the reconstructed Ninomaru Palace of Hamamatsu Castle there.
D: Oh yeah, that was pretty cool.
M: Look, you can see the Hamamatsu Castle Tower right above it.
D: I love looking at the castle from here!
M: Me too.

D: There’s also an information center and a souvenir shop.
M: The information center seemed really helpful for visitors. I saw so many brochures about sightseeing spots in the Hamamatsu area in both Japanese and English.
M: I loved the souvenir shop!
D: It was nicely organized, wasn’t it?
M: We found a variety of goods and foods made in Hamamatsu.

D: The pavilion is currently closed from March 1st to 17th because the exhibition items are being replaced for the grand-opening.
M: What can we expect to see during the grand-opening?
D: First, you’ll be able to experience the atmosphere of Hamamatsu Castle during Ieyasu’s time.
M: How cool! I really want to experience that.
D: There will also be displays of some props and costumes from the drama.
M: Wow, I watch the drama every Sunday now, so I’m curious to see what they’ll have.
D: And in the 4K theater, you’ll be able to see exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes footage that can only be seen here at the Taiga Drama Pavilion.
M: That’s really special!
D: You’ll also be able to take a commemorative photo with a life-size panel of the scenery from the drama as your background.
M: I can’t wait to take a photo there!
D: You’ll be able to see the details of Hamamatsu’s unique episodes, such as the looming threat of Takeda and the battle of Mikatahara. And you’ll be able to see behind-the-scenes footage of the filming of the drama.
M: It must be an incredible experience for the drama’s fans!
D: And to top it off, they’ll be showing autographs from the actors as well.
M: Wow, that’s amazing! I’m a huge fan of Matsujun, so I have to check it out!
D: There’s a lot of exciting things to look forward to.
M: Definitely. I’m looking forward to seeing what they have in the pavilion.

D: Oh, by the way, before we headed to the pavilion, we had lunch at one of my favorite cafes.
M: Yeah, that place was fantastic. It was a bit of a hidden gem.
D: I’m a big fan of their curry, so that’s what I usually order.
M: I tried the grilled sandwich and it was delicious. And the coffee was amazing too.
D: I’m glad you liked it. It’s actually really close to the pavilion, so I would highly recommend it to others.
The ambiance and food there always leave me feeling satisfied.

D: Speaking of good ambiance, I have a fantastic Italian restaurant I want to take you to. They’ve been in business for over 30 years!
M: Wow, that’s impressive. A restaurant around that long must be fantastic.
D: I know you’ll love it for all the right reasons!
M: Great, I’m excited to try it out!
