Each prefecture have some special interest, for example Niigata for Japanese Sake and seafood, Nagano for powder snow skiing and Aplpine mountains, Toyama for kingfish and crabs, and yamanashi for grapes and Mt.Fuji. There are lots more than we just mentioned, for example,

Niigata is well known about producing the best rice, so there are plenty of rice field sceneries including rice terraces, hot springs, coastal beauty, Sado Island, and it’s two hours Shinkansen ride from Tokyo.

Nagano offer Zenkoji Temple, Matsumoto Castle, Kamikouchi highland, natural beauty of Japanese Alpines, and world-famous powder snow ski fields, and plenty of hot springs. Also, you can be in Nagano just over an hour on Shinkansen from Tokyo.

Toyama is less known among 47 districts of Japan; it sits between Nagano and Kanazawa. One of the must visit place will be Kurobe Dam at Tateyama region, Snow walls of Tateyama in Spring time, and Owara Kaze No Bon Festival in September.

Yamanashi, if you want to view mighty Mt.Fuji and a ring of emerald mountains around low plains, visit Yamanashi Prefecture. A landscape ripe for outdoor activities. hiking, climbing, fishing, camping and hot springs are all within easy reach. In spring to Autumn, you can also try varieties of fruits in summer and autumn as well as visiting wineries.
