Today we went in search of monkeys just outside of Kyoto, Japan at Arashiyama Monkey Park! We honestly had no idea what we were in for, but after making the climb up the mountainside, there were Japanese Macaque monkeys EVERYWHERE! Hundreds of them were scrambling around the hillsides, playing, fighting, eating and hanging out. They loved the food shake where tourists could enter and feed the monkeys through fenced windows! Our favorite part was the “monkey scramble” during lunchtime when tons of walnuts were tossed everywhere! It was a total free-for-all and some monkeys made off with quite the hauls! This is a must visit stop when in Kyoto!
