You knew exactly what you were doing with that thumbnail.
I've only been able to experience real wasabi a few times in Japan, most notably in a sushiya in Shibuya. Amazingly floral and not spicy at all. Absolutely delicious. Thanks, Shizuka!
Hot pot anything always looks amazing
it is interesting topic and a great introduction
Shizukaaaaaaa
Oh i see! I've never know how wasabi was grown, thank you so much for letting us know 💖 You look Incredible and wonderful as always Shizuka-san ☺️ How cute you looked with that raincoat and those rubber boots. That wasabi hotpot looks so yummy 😮.
Really enjoyed the video, thank you again for all your efforts and take care everyone 🙏🏻❤️ God bless.
My favourite condiment for all types of meats whether grilled or simmered…takes a lot of effort to hand grind it
You haven’t lived until you have had わさびの葉の天ぷら – like spicy potato chips. Actually grown in a lot of places, but not in these ancient terraces in creeks – that is special – there are artificial covered terraces in place north like Aomori-ken. Curiously if you look at the leaves and the kanji it is a Malvaceae, real reason it considered a Brassicaceae is 1) it has four petaled flowers and 2) because it basically doesn’t grow natively outside Japan and tastes like Horseradish and the botanists only had dried out bits. FYI: Not only clean mineral water BUT ALSO needs to be moving/oxygenated water or else the ammonia rots the plant.
that's real wasabi. it takes 15 months to 2 years to grow.
Shizuka thanks again for sharing, I love these videos. 😊 I wish they were longer 😮
I never had real wasabi like the real one in the video.
It's interesting place in Japan and beautiful like our Host 😁 same name same place to go and live a good life, hello Shizuka 😊
no hangover? BRB trying wasabi in sake 😅
PS I love Shizuka in Shizuoka 😍
True story: at an office party at a Japanese restaurant a co-worker ate an entire spoon of wasabi because she thought it was avocado! Everyone at the table gave her their glasses of water for the recovery! Interesting factor: the heat of wasabi can't be measured using Scoville units (like for hot peppers) because that scale is based on capsaicin content, but wasabi isn't a pepper and doesn't get its heat from capsaicin.
Very interesting adding wasabi to sake! I used to make liquers as a hobby, so I'm wondering I could add wasabi root to alcohol over time (e.g., one can add a vanilla bean to vodka and let it soak for a period to get the vanilla flavor) to get the wasabi flavor and the metabolizing properties that reduce the impact of the alcohol. It must not work for some reason or they would likely have bottles of wasabe sake there for consumption.
Cheers and thanks for the video!
