  1. Awesome. My feelings about waiting out Social Security are the same. Why take it when your Lifestyle won't really change. I look at it as kind of an Insurance Policy

  2. Great advice on a bunch of different options.
I want to do vanlife, but when I'm older and tire of international travel. My wife…not so much. "I'm not living in a van!"๐Ÿคฃ

  3. #17, take Social Security at 62 and invest it all. If you earn at least 6% you will end up with more in the end. Great opportunities in the stock market and put at least some in BTC.

  4. I am about to sell out of all of my collectables to fund my dividend portfolio. I realized that I've been wasting all of my savings potential. I'm hoping to make this leap in roughly 6 years. Thanks for all the info! I used to travel so much when I was 18-25, and I still do, but I've always just assumed living abroad was impossible.

  5. For a few months now, living in Mexico, I have been practicing Qi-gong. It is very simple and there may be substantial health benefit as long as one makes it into a daily habit. This practice may be very useful for people travelling and worried about maintaining health while in a foreign country. It is easier than almost any exercise routine and it seems to have mental health benefit ( at least in my experience. ) The version I am doing is called Spring Forest Qi-Gong. You can see them on YouTube. No need to spend any money. Just learn from YouTube.

  6. I travelled for years doing odd jobs Dan. Some of the ideas I saw people doing-in Key West thereโ€™s a guy that will take a Polaroid of your house then sit there and paint your house out front across the street. He sells the paintings of the cute little houses. Usually the owner of the house buys the painting voluntarily.

  7. Weโ€™re the same age, Dan. Iโ€™m not sure social security will be around by the time we reach 70 considering the trajectory of the USA and national debt.

  8. Please do a living on $500 a month video. I am skeptical. Perhaps you already have one. I am in the USA and living on around $2000 per month for all of my expenses. Are you implying people can live on $500 per month for all of their expenses ? And I want to live in a house or apartment. The van life is not for me. I am new to your channel. Thank You. And I just hit the big 65-:)

  9. If you're like me and have a few years to go before retiring, start adopting minimalist living practices now. In the US, consumerism abounds everywhere with temptations (I'm looking at you Amazon) to buy this or that item that will seem useless in no time. Reining in your spending habits will yield savings quickly. Another is lifestyle choices impacting your health. I do intermittent fasting so I only eat two healthy meals a day, resulting in a lower weekly grocery bill and I shop at the discount stores whenever possible. These are just two examples of small changes that have seen my savings gradually add up. Start on these now and allow your lifestyle to adjust over time. Once retired, you'll already be established in these habits.

  10. Jesus is the only one we worship. He reminds us, I will not share my glory with anyone else. Mary did not die for your sins. Jesus did. He paid the price. Also, the first thing God pronounced in the bible as not good is this truth. It is not good for man to be alone. In the scripture God is in the beginning.

  11. Dan, you have inspired us so much over the years and by this time next week we will start our early retirement slow travel in Matagalpa, Nicaragua !
We have been planning this for 10 years and the time has arrived. We will be there for a couple years and then hope to slow travel all over Latin America and maybe SE Asia.
If we were retiring here in the US, Iโ€™d have to work another 6-8 years. By then I could be dead or physically unable to do much. No way !!!
All of the places we plan to go have a cost of living that are 1/4-1/2 of our costs here.
Dan, thanks for all you do !

  12. Wow! Your income is really increasing from month to month because what you offer is a valuable service! Congratulations! Dan is a knowledgeable guide to retiring in foreign but friendly, countries, and how to earn a living Online. Thank you Dan for all your help!

  13. THANK YOU DAN VERY INFORMATIVE WILL SHARE YOUR CHANELL AS WELL AS YOUR OROVEN IDEAS WITH OTHERS, THAT I ARE CONTEMPLATING A BREAK AWAY FROM THE RAT RACE, AND BREAK OUT OF THAT EGGSHELL THAT IS 9 TO 5 AND BROWN NOSING TO KEEP YOUR JOB, FREE IS NOT AMERICA OFFER, IT'S SILENT ENSLAVEMENT ON A PLANTATION THAT EVERYONE CALLS LIFE AS USUAL, THAT LIFE IS NOT FOR ME!

1 comment however re Amazon > of course agreed there > YouTube has become incredibly egregious re censorship > making it exceedingly challenging to disseminate most important info.

  15. Great videos Dan, good advice and commentary as well. My Filipina wife & I plan to slow travel with Nuvali Philippines as our base. Please do more videos on elder medical care. Thanks ๐Ÿ˜Š

  16. I'm now convinced the more motors one has in his life, the more overall hassle-factor and costs one experiences. I'm moving to Thailand in November and have already sold my boat, my van, my riding lawnmower….with more to go. Motors are everywhere. I have 3 chainsaws, gas-powered weed eater, a motorcycle, an RV, a truck, a car….all of it will be gone. To think of the time and money i've spent maintaining all that stuff over the years. As I watched those first motors leave my driveway i had not one iota of sadness.

  17. I was caught in the 2008 crash as well but not as much as 50%. We were always told to ride out the highs & lows but I lost my nerve. Fortunately I didnโ€™t lose enough money to deter my decision to retire at 55. My generous pension benefit saved me. Still loving retirement in Thailand 12 years later.

  18. Thanks, Dan. I have watched a lot of videos on world travel, but yours are by far the best. My wife is Filipina, and we love going back there whenever we can. I hope we can go back for more than four or five weeks at a time after our daughter graduates from college. I really love traveling in Mexico and Central America but Southeast Asia is the best.

  19. Dan, another great video full of information. Thanks so much for the in-depth information you share in this video.

  20. I don't know who, however a person desires to pay attention to this, you have to stop relying on the government and saving all of your money . Venture into making an investment a few in case you actually monetary freedom

  21. Ha-ha-ha Dan ๐Ÿ˜„
I love the "Hell Mary" expression!! Think I might have a T-shirt made with this expression and, give it to the "rich" Europeans when I leave them for good in a few years…
    Thanks for the ๐Ÿ˜Š

  22. I appreciate all of your Hail Mary ideas. I have been deep diving on this very subject for about 8 years since I really have no established retirement and 8 years left before I can retire. One other thing folks can do for themselves is to get educated on money, investing, and if you are brave enough…trading. It takes about 4 years of solid work to get profitable on trading (on average), but at least learn to invest your money wisely. Financial education was not stressed during my formative years and I am paying a heavy price. There's a lot of garbage "education" out there but if you learn to actively manage your portfolio, you can avoid downturns like many folks are experiencing over the past few years. My wife and I have the intention to slow travel once we are set up. The idea of retiring in the US is just not palatable to me any more.

  23. If you delayed your social security payments till age 70, you would throw away $150,720 In benefits received between age 62 to 70. Then, you will have to wait almost 5 years to recoup that lost cash before you start at the zero mark. You will then be 75 years old. How long will you live? Who knows? Something to think about.

  24. Thank you explaining this hail marry. I wouldnโ€™t know as American -Swiss ๐Ÿ˜Š
