Nice resort area. Not quite what we have here in Calif, I live an hour from Lake Tahoe. Great to get out there and try it.
Best to start on the snow bunny trail like you guys did at the end. The first time I went skiing in Mammoth, my friends took me to the advanced trail, needless to say it literally took me over an hour to get down, but I learned a lot and quickly.
my first time doing downhill my "lesson" was this. do this to turn left, do this to turn right, do this to stop. See you at the bottom of the hill.

lol, I’m surprised you’ve never been skiing before with all the snow in Michigan. Mount Holly Mi has sky lifts and I’ve seen them in Traverse City but this was long ago.

You should have rented a helmet. Forget Fai and what she thinks. Don't forget that she stands to inherit your estate unless you have an irrevocable trust for you son to get some. Natasha Richardson died after hitting her head skiing in Canada as a beginner, leaving Liam Neeson and their 2 sons behind. Bleeding and swelling of the brain. She reported a headache just like you after her fall. The helmets are very modern nowadays and everyone has them who cares about living a long life. Also, you should have paid and done a beginner's lesson for a few hours both days. Yes, ski resort towns all looks somewhat similar with the main resort and buildings around it.
You really want a ski holiday… Next time consider Stowe Vt. Its expensive but the number one place per capita one the planet. Best cuisine ever. But yes its not cheap. Just watching you guys try to ski cracked me up.

Nice ski resort❤❤ Ski resorts in Colorado has long line, overcrowded and very pricey if you don't have ski season pass.
You are a good guy Greeny , we want to keep you alive until a ripe venerable age but don’t trust people you just meet and send you on kami kazé missions on ski hills. Accidents happen very fast on ski hills. Anyone who tells you not to wear a helmet does not have your best interest at heart. A slight fall on the head can trigger premature dementia at best.
In old Japan , even the kami kazé ‘s. ( wind of gods ) did not want to do it, they just did not give them enough fuel to come back ,

I lived about 75 miles from there for 1 1/2 years in Kashiwazaki. Went up to that area a few times, Nagano to visit the old Olympic village and over to Toyama. All part of the Japanese alps. I can't ski any more due to health but i miss it. A lot of the guys I worked with went up there skiing. I skied Aspen, Vail and Steamboat and Snowbird a long time ago and the villages were different in that you didn't have to walk nearly as far in you gear to get to the slopes. I'm surprised you never skied in the UP of Michigan. Nice to see you enjoyed it, you did pretty good!

Now that looks like fun. You did pretty good on the smaller slopes. It reminds me of the first time we tried to skate while attempting to play hockey, lots of falls.
