Excellent informative video. I'll be in Japan in March, just in time for the updated mask policy, although I'll still wear them in certain areas out of respect (transportation, congested area, etc.). Can't wait for cherry blossom season!!!
Really not looking forward to all the Chinese tourists… I can only hope that they will respect other countries and their rules

Nice! … we are finally back in Japan at the end of June. Let's see how it looks then and whether the big tourist rush has already started. Personally, I don't have a problem with it 🙂
I do have a trip coming up, so is the mask mandate lifted now or will be in May? I'll do what ever, but just kinda curious. Thank you for the update.
I think masks are great and had no issues at all wearing them when I was in Japan in October last year, but my goodness it will be great to go back to a less strict mask society again! I'm going back to Japan around November/December this year so can't wait for the tipping scales to head towards maskless when the time comes.

I hope they do away with the Covid requirements for entry, my trip is coming up on May 10th and I hope I don’t have to spend the extra amount to get the testing

I think by mid March or early April Japan may drop all the rules to enter back to before the pandemic . If not theirs economy continue to suffer especially the tourist industry.
About 15% of people I saw on the subways toke their mask off.
ugh, we were there last week and literally everyone wears masks EVERYWHERE, even inside their car ALONE. it's so strange. other than that, there were NO restrictions we could see. they should just lift everything… the mask thing doesnt make much sense anymore. people should be naturally immunised by now
I have my trip to Japan on March/April for the Cherry Blossoms season and I certainly hope those masks are gonna be out, cause they were never good in the first place! even the CDC already had an article last week about how they prevented nothing! they are nothing more then theatrical false security…

I can understand all of these measures. I would still use proof of a negative test 7 days AND 72hrs before entry. As a member of the military in the medical field the number of cases from a certain country are real and more than you think/know. Just be smart, use your own judgment and enjoy Japan regardless.

Just got back from a 2 week trip without too many crowds… I will be back!
I've had to shots so far…I don't want a 3rd really….but as of right now you need 3…if they do drop this in may….I am hoping to visit in mid July for 2 weeks 🙏…fingers crossed this does happen…japan is my go to bucket list

Considering there have recently been multiple large studies showing that masks do next to nothing, they should be abandoned, but I think masking is so integrated into Japanese society, they might have a hard time giving them up.
