Japanese Forest Therapy in Sasaguri, Fukuoka | Solo Hiking in Japan | 森林セラピー 篠栗町, 福岡

Since 2209, Sasaguri has been a certified “Forest Therapy” base located in Fukuoka Prefecture. This certification means that the relaxation effect of the forest has been scientifically proven, and the facilities in the area are well-maintained for visitors.

There are several courses that take you through different parts of the area. I picked one that brought me to the top of Narufuchi Dam, up to a beautiful waterfall, and finally an observatory at the top of the mountain.

The area is also a famous pilgrimage route dotted with 88 Buddhist temples. During the hike, you can see many of these along the way.
