Mt. Takao (高尾山) is a popular day trip from Tokyo. Located in the city of Hachiōji, it is easily accessible in less than an hour using either the Keio Line or the JR Chuo Line.
Mt. Takao is known for its range of hiking trails, delicacies and the Shinto-Buddhist temple, Yakuōin Yūkiji as well as the associated tengu stone statues. There is also a monkey park and great views of the greater Tokyo skyline and even Mt. Fuji.
I hope this video will help guide you in making decisions that will maximize your value with regards to your money, time and energy/convenience exploring Tokyo while also having easy access to the rest of the country via rail/JR Pass.

Awesome video! Thanks for sharing some awesome shots of what the paths look like leading up to the lookout. Are all of the paths paved or could you get some trail hiking in up the mountain if you wanted to go that route?
