► As much as April is Sakura-time, February is Ume-time – the first sign of spring in Japan, and that’s what I’m gonna show you in this little video: Ume blossom in “Atami Baien” garden in Shizuoka.

Atami Baien is one of the most popular destinations in central Japan to watch Ume blossom, it is located roughly halfway between Hakone and Mount Fuji. It can be reached from central Tokyo by either a 2 hours & 10 minutes ride on a local train (1900¥), or in 38 minutes by Shinkansen (3500¥/unreserved seat) from Tokyo Station.

It’s a great place for a stroll and a great opportunity to get the camera out of its bag. So that’s what I did, and I was really lucky with the weather on that particular day, 18 degrees and a blue sky. I hope you’ll like the result. – Enjoy!
