Walnut Creek, CA is Santa Barbara's CA sibling. Luxury Mediterranean living. No trains. Food diversity. Downtown shopping and social activities are similar prices. The difference is WC is not near water, but the weather is better, there's more warm comfortable weather. However, water is not far.

You are nailing it. I live in SoCal so I know there's no way you can do everything, but you did a lot more than I expected. The only thing I think you really missed out on is Catalina island. Well worth the visit if you have an extra day or two.
