Title: FAMOUS FOOD in HOKKAIDO JAPAN (Sapporo inclusive) // Japanese Food / Street Food / Hokkaido sushi

JAPAN, JAPAN, JAPAN!!! You will never ever get tired of Japan!
Indeed, my Japan trip, more specifically in the area of Sapporo and Hokkaido was one of my best trip so far. It was my first time in this Japanese land, experiencing the unique Japanese Food Culture as well as the whole Japanese lifestyle itself.

My Hokkaido Japan trip was indeed an eye-opener for me. It was my first time there and I did not book any Hokkaido tour or whatsoever and I don’t regret it at all. To me, you don’t need a tour to experience Japan to its full.
Going free and easy is enough to make you sink in the japanese lifestyle and indulge in the local traditional japanese food culture as it is a country full of culture and history. YOU WILL NOT MISS THIS FOR SURE!

While in Hokkaido, we spent 2 days at Furano, 1 day at Otaru and 2 days at Sapporo Japan. It was good enough for a first time but we definitely would want to go back for a longer period of time, possibly for at least 2 weeks.

While the video depicts mainly food in Hokkaido, it would be the similar type of food in japan, I mean in the whole country. While we have not been to all places, we definitely aspire to explore more in the future.

Well well well, since this video is about Japanese food, where to eat in Hokkaido??
Well IT’S EVERYWHERE!

This is what you can expect of Japanese Cuisine, based on the Wikipedia reference:
Japanese cuisine is based on rice with miso soup and other dishes; there is an emphasis on seasonal ingredients. Side dishes often consist of fish, pickled vegetables, and vegetables cooked in broth. Seafood is common, often grilled, but also served raw as sashimi or in sushi. Seafood and vegetables are also deep-fried in a light batter, as tempura. Apart from rice, staples include noodles, such as soba and udon. There are many simmered Japanese dishes such as fish products in broth called oden, or beef in sukiyakiand nikujaga.

We got our japanese food or japanese dishes from ALL OVER THE PLACE. We:
1. Ate at Japanese Restaurant where we tasted Hokkaido Sushi at its best in Sapporo
2. had Takoyaki from our Japanese Street Food checklist in Otaru, another city in Hokkaido
3. Indulged in a Japanese Buffet in Sapporo where we had various Japanese Sushi, Japanese Dishes, tempura, cakes and all the like. Tempura, for those who do not know, consist of seafood or vegetables that have been battered and deep fried.
4. Had the best of Ramens which is mainly a Japanese Noodle in a nutshell. It is a japanese dish consisting of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a meat or (occasionally) fish-based broth, often flavored with soy sauce or miso, and uses toppings such as sliced pork (叉焼 chāshū), dried seaweed, menma and green onions. We did that in Sapporo.
5. Ate at the various japanese takeaway around in sapporo
6. Had the famous japanese omurice in Furano
7. Had a very delicious cheese fondue at a very cosy bar in Furano

Unfortunately, there were some Sushi Restaurants which we wanted to try but did not managed to.
Sadly as well, we did not properly document the places we went to and also the price we paid for the Food. We humbly apologise for this and we hope we make it up to you the next time we go to Japan again.
Having said that, there are a few places we would strongly recommend and FORTUNATELY, we managed to drop down the links for at least one restaurant in each Japanese city we visited:
1. Best place to have omurice in Furano, Hokkaido :

The ambience was so cozy with the wooden structures. You will definitely feel at home. The omurice is to die for. It was technically our first japanese dish of the trip.
2. Soh’s Bar where we had the cheese fondue:

Since it was winter, it was so good to come to this cosy little corner where there was a fireplace to keep us warm. Pure bliss!
3. The bestest ramen in Sapporo at:

4. Best Seafood bowls in Otaru, hokkaido:

There you have it! Hopefully our small expose on Japanese Traditional Food helps you catch a glimpse of what Japanese food is all about. Personally, Japanese food is one of the healthiest I have seen so far and this is inculcated since the early childhood of the Japanese. It is indeed a wonderful culture!

Don’t only watch, go and experience the Japanese food culture for yourself! You won’t regret it!
