In this Thailand Travel Vlog, we went to a place that many of you recommended: Phu Kradueng National Park! This is in the Loei province of Thailand – part of Isaan and is a really popular place for Thais to go in the winter months! While we don’t recommend doing it in a weekend like we did, it was SO easy to reach from Bangkok!! We were able to take an overnight bus from Bangkok to Pha Nok Khao. We arrived around 5am where we waited at the bus station to take a songtaew the last 20 minutes from the bus station to the entrance to Phu Kradueng National Park. We purchased national park tickets at the entrance. We were also able to pay for a tent rental at the bottom of the mountain. We then started the 4-5 hour hike up to the top.
The hike is interesting because it’s about 9km to the upper campsite, but only the first 5km are uphill. After you reach the mountain top, you still have to hike a further 3.5km to the campsite area.
Luckily there are many rest areas along the mountain where you can buy food, drinks, and lots of water.
Phu Kradueng is also well known for the porters who carry tons of things up the mountain! The only way to reach the top of Phu Kradueng is to hike….yet there are many restaurants and stores at the top. Therefore everything that you purchase at the top is carried up by these mountain porters! Some of their loads looked SO heavy! We even saw men carrying gas tanks up to the top that they could use for cooking! Many people also pay the porters to carry their bags up for them to make the hike easier.
The top of the mountain is actually a huge plateau! The famous sunrise and sunset cliffs are on different sides of the plateau. There are also many cliffs and waterfalls that you can explore at the top. There are mountain bikes that you can rent as well which definitely make the 9km hike to the sunset cliff easier….however you’re then stuck biking back in the dark like we did!
We were able to buy tons of Thai food at the top like pad krapao, fried rice, noodles, and more.
We had so much fun doing this hike and camping in Thailand again!! We’d love to go back for longer than a weekend!!

  2. Hello, I'm a Thai person living in the northeastern region. At Phu Kradueng, you can travel every season. On the top of the mountain, the weather is cool every season. In the summer, you can clearly see the sunrise and sunset and fields of flowers. In the rainy season, you will be able to play in the waterfall with lots of water. In winter you can experience very cold weather. As for if you want to see the sea of mist, it is recommended that you come during the end of the rainy season and the beginning of winter, you can experience it. You must not be in too much of a hurry to live life at Phu Kradueng and you will feel happy with your life. I wish you both good luck.

  3. Watched you guy go on adventure on PHU KRADUENG.
Make me fun and miss that place.
    More than 30 years ago.
The way to Phu Kradueng , no stairs no concrete path.
On top no bicycle no internet and no atm.
To every place by walk only.
Go once ,have to stay 3-4 night
Therefore will travel to all places.
Virtually everything is still wild and uncomfortable.
But , When you adventure with your friends , everything is no problems.
See you in the next clip..and wish you a happy travel …
    BON VOYAGE..

  4. If you visit there at the beginning of the rainy season, around the end of May, you will experience another atmosphere of Phu Kra Dueng. The trees will be lush. Wild flowers bloom along the sidewalk including a refreshing waterfall with a beautiful scene.
