  1. dang had I known you were going there I'd have paypal'd you some $$ for a set of postcards.

  2. You did really well on those stairs! Thanks braving them and showing us the view. Fun video. Wish I could visit.

  3. Thanks so much for the hard work on the video, Rion. Aww, so brave to show us the view walking down the tower. Honestly, I would be too scared walking down due to the icy conditions, so kudos to you. I felt your sadness when you were not able to flim or have your seafood meal, but at least you turned it around, and you enjoyed other delicious discoveries and beautiful winter wonderland. Chin up, and let's keep walking.

  4. Thanks for sharing the snow festival with us! The view from above was amazing!! That walk down the stairs, though πŸ‘€πŸ˜± Was so sad to hear about the disappointing seafood experience, but I always appreciate your honest travel reviews (the ups and the downs). And actually, when you were walking around in the snow, I was thinking that a nice bowl of ramen would be the perfect way to warm up. So, it always seems to work out in the end. ✨

  5. Rion,

I am Japanese-American (Japanese Mother, American Father). I represented the American Snow Carving Team twice in the International Snow Carving Competition (2002 and 2007). You missed the 11th block where the International competitors carved their snow sculptures. You'll need to go back in the future.

I enjoyed the snow crab legs and other seafood in the Sapporo Izakaiyas.

If you ever come back to America, contact me. I'm a photographer too, and can show you America and can go anytime. I would enjoy going back to Japan too.

I really enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work.

  6. Man, you went to Hokkaido and tried Ramen? There are so many great restaurants to eat in Hokkaido that are way better than ramen, you can do better, your followers deserve better. The excuse you provided is lame, I follow this channel to see new places not to see or hear you complain in a hotel room while drinking a beer alone, so sad.

  7. Thank you for taking us to the much-awaited Sapporo Snow Festival! I was filled with excitement to see the amazing snow and ice sculptures creations which seemed to be more beautiful when litted up at night, including the Sapporo TV Tower. πŸ˜„
SadπŸ˜₯ to know you that you were not able to eat some fresh seafoods and local dishes, anyways, more next time!
By any chance, would you consider a trip to the lavender fields in Hokkaido this summer? πŸ˜„ Gaoo!

  8. Visiting Sapporo Snow Festival, My bucket list was checked!Β
Definitely, I will come back to Hokkaido, next time in the summer and eat Seafood!!

  9. Thank you for sharing the snow festival with usπŸ˜„It is ok not to film the seafood meal, no loss really with that type of attitude from the waitress. Glad you enjoy the ramenπŸ˜‰ Perhaps next time go during early autumn where isn't much crowd. Great that you challenge yourself down those stairs despite having chill and coping with fearπŸ‘Great video. Looking forward more. πŸ’ͺ

  10. I was in Sapporo in the beginning of the mouth… and felt before the Snow Festival began. I had a great time Sapporo… but the 8 hours train ride back to Tokyo was pretty fun!

  11. Hi Rion, what an experience – so many various snow sculptures very much interesting to be watched during the day but even more at night with light and sound effects – something really special. I once visited an ice sculpture park in Switzerland but it cannot be compared with this huge exhibition in no way. Thanks so much for showing us the observatory views of the snow festival – the best way to experience its greatness.
How brave you were to use the staircase while leaving the place. I have no problems with high and shaky places but I could simpatize with you especially under such a cold and slippery conditions. So sad you were not able to enjoy your beloved sea food due to the crowded places and even some rude people.
By the way you should not hesitate to wear glasses when your eyes got tired of you contact lenses because you look even more sofisticated with them. GAAAOOO!!!

  12. Thank you Rion for taking us to the Hokkaido Snow Festival. Oh my, you were so brave to walk down the stairs. I was scared for your life πŸ˜†
Aww I'm sorry that you didn't get to eat seafood. It's alright next time when you come back to Hokkaido in the summer, let's go see lavender fields and eat the crabs πŸ¦€ out of their life! πŸ˜‚

  13. Thanks Rhion.always a lovely video.looking forward to it. we went to tokyo before feb looking for you but we where filming somewhere.take care.hope to see you someday in Japan.your videos are great help in our trip.keep it up

  14. Hi Ishida San, πŸ‘‹

I want you to know your content is very awesome, unique and interesting! so know that we love your style of videos very much! I want to visit Japan some day too and my dream is to live there haha πŸ˜… You're also the first one for whom I became a patreon member because I really love your work and effort you put in your videos and I want to help you keep making amazing videos for us! 😁
    Thank you! πŸ’–

  15. I can’t stop laughing bc you’re affraid of height but you’re love to go up highπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  16. My kids enjoyed seeing the Anya ice sculptures (we're fans of the Spy x Family anime and manga) and My Neighbour Totoro characters. And your rendition of "what does the fox say?" topped it all off.

  17. Its going to be too early to see the festival when I visit in Nov so I plan of focusing on the food when I visit. Hope you go to some of the more interesting tourist spots.

  18. Would be good if you can blur other people faces in the video 😊

  19. Thank you for being so brave to walk down the stairs of the tower to show us the view! Always love your content! ❀️

  20. Really sad that even in Japan people start to get more and more unfriendly ;(
Lucky I only had like two or three occasions where Japanese were kinda rude but yeah remembering that crazy woman that "attacked" you in a livestream before and hearing how everyone is denying your filming and so on ….

Then again it feels like people are getting worse worldwide, no idea if its related to all those crisises we had and still have but I noticed this pretty much everywhere I went within the last 3-4 years as well as with friends and coworker

  21. Thank you for all your hard work Rion! Try to not feel too discouraged with some of the things that went wrong, still a fantastic and entertaining video, and your energy is so refreshing and fun. Hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Hokkaido!

  22. I guess someone need to learn how to plan their travel. Everyone know you need to go to food places as early before they open when it comes to such places. That snow festival is places you can go later on in the day.

  23. Everyone wearing masks but no one seems to think twice about grabbing door handles, pushing elevator buttons πŸ€”

  24. Now I'm having serious Sapporo flashbacks. When we're there at the end of February, there were still remnants of the sculpture, but barely.

Afterwards, we went to the Sapporo Clock Tower, then to the Factory Mall, not so sure of the name. Then WALK all the way to Sapporo Beer Factory, not knowing where we are right then was the BUS STAND to bring us there. Going back, we took that bus, as I can't walk anymore.

The next day, we went to a seafood market and had a breakfast. After a little going around, we took the LOAD TRAIN, as told by the hotel staff. Expecting it to be a large train, it turns out its a ROAD TRAIN. 😁 We took a short ride on our way to Mt. Moiwa. We spend the whole afternoon till nighttime to see the city skyline at night.

I could go on and on, which mean we did enjoy our trip to Sapporo. One thing I missed though is that I never went to Hokkaido University, which was parallel to our way all along taking that LOAD/ROAD TRAIN. Also Otaru, which was due to time constraints.

Well, maybe next time. I'll make sure of that. ☺️
