In this video, my wife and I were invited to join an event called a Mochi Maki. When a building is being renovated, the owners prepare a Mochi Maki, by inviting local citizens to catch mochi, (rice cakes) and other snacks they throw off the top of the building. This is supposed to bring good luck to the building and promote it to the local neighborhood.
