My first test of EOSHD Pro Color settings for Sony mirrorless cameras. Overall I like them. Flesh tones look good, though tended to be oversaturated. I did a little desaturation on some shots in post. I also found myself bringing the black level down a lot in post, and the highlights blew out easily. So probably best to under-expose a bit. Also, the white balance looked about 1500k cooler than normal, so I manually adjusted accordingly.

Sony a6300, 18-105mm lens, white balance 7000k, levels and saturation adjusted in post
Zhiyun Crane 3-axis gimbal, no post-stabilization

  1. Thanks for the video, Brandon! I bought the settings for my a7s (mark i) and I'm noticing that some colors are just way off. Teal shades turn to pure blue, lighter greens turn to yellow, reds turn to magenta. Oranges however are enhanced in saturation. Have you notice any sort of color specific shifts on the a7sii? I enjoy the contrast of the cine profile but it may be a tad saturated to my tastes.

  2. Just want to know between Zhiyun Crane 3-axis gimbal & Beholder EC-1 which one u like best…. payload will be 6300/6500, gh4 or bmpcc.

  3. Hi Brandon, I've developed the key recipe for matching Sony photos and footage to the Canon look, primarily with a focus on achieving the Canon skin tones that we all know and love. This will provide a shortcut for all editors trying to grade Sony images or footage.

Check out my video below, it explains everything about the recipe I've created, which will work in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop, as well as Da Vinci Resolve and FCPX.

  4. hey brandon love how you mix technicals with the creative. really helps a lot. would you ever consider doing a video on your sound design?

  5. Was there a reason you started shooting with the zhiyun crane instead of the Ikan ec-1?

  6. i have a question Brandon, most of your videos background music and pack are really good. esp the HONG KONG STRONG one, very very good sound design.
I would like to ask, are you doing your own sound design? or you have someone to compose music to you?
Would you create ADR or sound effect for yourself to use on video? or you got sound effect kits somewhere ? or you created them yourself?

    big thanks

  7. Without fail, amazing video! I've seen all of your videos and I love your work man! Im a college student getting into cinematography, you are a true artist Brandon.

  8. What gamma profile do you prefer with EOSHD pro. I have the a6300 as well and wanted to know how Slog2/3 compare to the cine2/4 gammas on this picture profile.

  9. very nice video. how on Earth did you get such smooth shots with the Zhiyun? I use the same but with an a7sii. my shots are not nearly as smooth as yours.

  10. Now, this looks nice. Finally a Sony camera video that doesn't have a turquoise sky after grading!

  11. great video. how do you know where to set your white balance? do you have a video on how you set up your camera (settings)

  12. Did you measure the white balance manually? And did you make the A-B G-M adjustment?

  13. The reds are too Magenta, they become pink. I did extensive tests yesterday and found that the best settings are to turn down the magenta to +1 and to do some color correction in post. Use a grey card to manually white balance on and later use that same grey card and do a color pick white balance on white in premiere color lumetri for perfect skintones, reds and blacks. I might post a video on that in the future. But Eos Hd is not bad as a starting point.

  14. The exposure is spot on, something I struggle with on sunny days.
I assume this was taken with an ND filter?

  15. Sir whenever i try to balance my sony a6300 with kit lens on moza air it starts vibrating ..plz help me sir ..i need a solution for this..plz

  16. Hello. I use EOSHD XR, I like the result, but I find the profile with a lot of contrast. Could you tell me if I change the GAMMA from STILL to CINE4 I could keep the Canon colors, but with less contrast?

  17. In 2021 it looks terrible. Way too magenta or purple. Straight out of camera on the Sony models from 2017+ look better.
