Kumamoto Earthquake 2016 (one week later)

Please keep the people of Kyushu in your thoughts and prayers.

A little over a month after this country (Japan) has taken time to remember the 5th year anniversary of The Great East Japan Earthquake, Tsunami and Nuclear meltdown; Kumamoto Prefecture in Kyushu or southern Japan was hit by not one, but 3 big earthquakes in three days and over 500 aftershocks (including many strong ones) over 5 days starting on April 14th, 2016. And the aftershocks continue. With the death toll up at 48 deaths and over 1000 injured, plus still some missing.

Earthquake = jishin 地震

Common events to be ready for after an earthquake hits.
1. Tsunamis or tidal waves = tsunami
2. Aftershocks = yoshin
3. Fires = kasai, kaji, hi
4. Power outages = teiden
5. Evacuation (Evacuation shelter) = hinan 非難 (hinanjo)

The kanji on the Self Defense Force Trucks reads:
災害派遣 sai gai ha ken = disaster relief mission

Should you be in Japan, it may be a good idea to know some of these terms related to earthquakes just in case.
