While in Osaka, I took a quick subway ride to Yokohama to visit the Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum .

It was back in 1958 when Momofuku Ando invented the world’s first instant noodle. It took him a full year of research and experimentation to perfect it – working in a small shed he built in his backyard.

Osaka is the birthplace of instant noodles – and it’s still a fairly popular meal.

Fun fact: The average Japanese person eats ~40 packs of instant noodles per year.

There’s a really tunnel at the entrance that showcases the instant noodles lineup starting with the classic, Chicken Ramen. There are ~800 flavours on display and the sight of them all together is impressive.
