Enjoyable thanks Nick. I would love to know more about the snow sculpting volunteers and was surprised that there weren’t recognised artists involved (my assumption) – maybe this is like the Aussie version of chainsaw sculpture rather than the relatively high art of sand sculptures? Loved the dramatic light of dusk and night time. What else was worth hanging out for in Sapporo in between all of this?
Cracking stuff, Nick. Educational, fun, and just beautiful. Thank you
Well done Nick. This is a whole new perspective on this festival and it really makes you appreciate the effort that goes into it. Good tips on filming so much white too. It's always tricky and your tips are spot on.
Fascinating! I had no idea that this festival existed. Also interesting to see the pervasiveness of anime features in the choices of the artists. The snow buildings created to scale were impressive. it'd be interesting to know if they are eventually dismantled or left to melt – if the latter, that would be an arresting photo project in itself.
Another great video – thanks!
The JSDF work was amazing and you got some really good shots of everything. I'd love to go one of these years
