東京から電車で2時間程で到着する静岡県にある温泉街の熱海では一足早く熱海桜が見頃を迎えました。熱海桜は沖縄の琉球寒緋桜と共に早咲きの桜としてしられています。温泉街として歴史が長い熱海は、昔は海中から温泉が湧き海水が熱かったともいわれています。近代では休暇中の政治家や要人が急ぎの連絡をできるように、日本で最初に市外電話が設置されたことでも知られ、昔ながらの商店街が今もにぎわっています。今回、樹齢2000年以上と言われる大楠のある來宮神社の映像と共に桜の様子を映像にしました。
熱海桜の見頃は1か月ほどで、熱海梅園の見頃と重なりお花見を楽しむことができます。

In Atami, a hot spring resort town in Shizuoka Prefecture, which takes about 2 hours by train from Tokyo, the Atami cherry blossoms have come into bloom. Atami cherry trees are early-blooming cherry tree along with the cherry trees(Ryukyu Kanhizakura) in Okinawa.
Atami has a long history as a hot spring resort, and it is said that the seawater used to be hot because the hot spring water came from under the sea. Atami was the first place in Japan where a long-distance telephone line were installed so that politicians and dignitaries on vacation could make urgent calls.
In this video, you can see the cherry blossoms and Kinomiya Shrine which has a giant camphor tree that is said to be more than 2,000 years old.
The Atami cherry blossom season lasts about a month and comes along with the Atami Plum Garden, making it a great time to enjoy watching the two flowers.
