Hiking Japan’s Tokai Nature Trail (Tokai Shizen Hodo) 東海自然歩道.

Documenting a long-distance hiking trail between Osaka and Tokyo.

Day 41: Another cold day on the Hodo. This time I tackle Mount Sanage 猿投山, a popular peak east of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture before descending into Toyota City, making a major natural discovery on trail and overnighting in a cosy Japanese inn.

  1. Great timing on this, I am actually going out to hike Sanage tomorrow and you have gotten me excited for it. Did you see the abandoned train station by the Hirose house by the way? Its pretty neat, I drive by it every day on my way to work, and occasionally stop by to walk the old train line. Even saw a wild boar there once. Also a fun fact about Toyota city, the city itself has incorporated a ton of the surrounding area in recent years, so it actually extends to a ways beyond Nebiso. It's among the top 10 largest core cities in land area in fact, at over 900 km2.
