Hi Anna. I hope you had a good weekend. This is a really nice train to travel on especially the comfy seat. You got lucky in nabbing the solo front seat. Good views on the journey too. I really want to try out the lovely Hinotori bento you bought but I'm not going anywhere near Osaka or Nagoya on my trip in April. I wonder if it is sold in Ekibenya, Tokyo? Not been to Japan for 10 years now! Nagoya was my "base" though – We stayed in the Marriott last time – directly above the station and it was so easy to get the Shinkansen to other stations. I never tried the Hinotori though – but it looks amazing. The price difference from Standard to Premium if like £5 (Sterling). so seems an obvious choice for me 🙂
Lovely train & sites, thank you for sharing this. You say "more time", but just how long did it really take? Seems well worth it for a premium seat on a longer ride, but their Standard looks very nice & comfy, too. Indeed enjoying the journey & delicious bento can be better than zooming to a destination! So glad there are so many travel options & you try to show us all of them! Thank you!

I've seen Hinotori on some other channels that are more train specific, but it looks like an amazing ride. Especially if you can get that front seat like you did. Really want to do it myself someday.

What happened if I buy a ticket from Osaka to Nagoya and I come across an interesting station along the way and I want to get off and walk around and then take the next train? Do I need to buy a new ticket or somehow inform? After all, seats in the green car are reserved.
