Wow
Alamang is also bagoong.
The two most common types of bagoong areΒ bagoong alamang, made of small shrimp, and bagoong isda, commonly called bagoong balayan, which comes from a seaside town south of Manila and is made of anchovies, sardines or herring.
mergim is in the house

Natatawa ako Si gf nya mag explained kung ano pinag Kaiba sa alamang at bagoong isda. At saka Sino mga pinoy ma confused sa pinagkaiba ng alamang sa bagoong. As if we were born yesterday. Hehe just say bagoong alamang is shrimp paste and bagoong isda is fermented fish.

Did you learn the watermelon gender when you had your trip in Bicol ?
Wow !! Yummy… kainggit ! Enjoy… π
Alamang is baby shrimps. Bagoong is frome small fish called dilis..the proper name of those is bagoong na alamang ( shrimps) bagoong na isda made with fish or dilis.
Alamang is shrimp paste. The bagoong balayan is made from fish.
As far as i know, Alamang is also a type of Bagoong as it is also fermented. So it's Bagoong Alamang. While the other one is fish Bagoong… I'm glad you've been introducing Mergim to more Pinoy food. Coz i don't think he's a big fan. Though i remember when he went back to Thailand after his first trip here with his (ex) gf, he ate at a Pinoy restaurant there and he seemed to have really liked the food that he ordered. But i guess still not as much as he likes Thai food.
You are now a certified Filipino man I would say Mike!! You know how to determine a male and a female watermelon lols

Nice watching boodle fight among yourselves. It is not only in Siargao, you can have boodle fight. You can also have boodle fighr in Palawan or Boracay, you just need to ask for them.

Alamang is shrimp,bagoong is fish.

Is the Pilipino guy Boy Abunda ? He looks like Boy Abunda.
They are both bagoong. One is made of small shrimp called alamang and the other one is fish bagoong.
Stop hating on Gray, sheβs explaining the Alamang and Bagoong the best way possible. Some Filipinos canβt even explain what Dinuguan is, yaβll describe it as chocolate meat! Smh.
So what if sheβs wearing a swim suit, didnβt you see the pool? They just finished swimming.
not all bagoong is from batangas. most regions in Ph has it. like us, from northern province, also have our bagoong.. the usual opaque brown liquid and another one we call "padas"
As far as I know there are 2 kinds of Bagoong so thereβs Bagoong Isda (fish paste) which Bagoong Balayan is (made in Balayan, Batangas) and there is also Bagoong Alamang (shrimp paste)…Sometimes they just call them in a different name because they want to highlight where they are made from (area) and also different provinces/areas have different recipes or how they make it. So, Bagoong Balayan is actually really just a kind of Bagoong Isda.

Gray FYI – I google searched the origins of bagoong alamang and here is the results:
Where did alamang originated?
Origins of bagoong alamang:
This practice seems to have began in Southern Thailand where they would utilize the dried shrimp for months. Because of this, the popularity and use of shrimp paste eventually expanded to the rest of Southeast Asia.
π³ using plastic wrap over everything is so unnecessary π maybe some big banana leaves π are a better option for the environment π€
Bagoong Alamang is shrimp paste hence the name alamang. Since your in the north Bagoong Isda is what the other bagoong is called and its named that way because its made out of fermented fish while alamang is fermented shrimps.
Budol fight ay nakatayo while eating
"Bagoong" is the process name on how it fermented . "Alamang" is the name of the baby shrimps.. Thats why its called "bagoong alamang" for baby shrimp or "bagoong isda" if the they used fish..
