Best of rice paddy art & STUNNING fields in Aomori, Japan

The highest level of agricultural professionalism and artistic taste is being shown by the Japanese villagers, who first wanted to save the tradition of rice cultivations but came up with their own stunning art form – the rice paddy art.

Historical evidence shows people of Aomori, Japan have been cultivating rice and involved in agriculture for over 2000 years, so in 1993 the dwellers of the region tried to draw more attention to the declining industry by creating a giant picture of Mt. Iwaki in a paddy field.

Thanks to the media attention and years of practice, the rice field art has become a big tourist destination in the region, as people learned how to use different types of heirloom and modern strains of rice to create more complex and stunning artworks on their fields.

In April 2007, the rice of different colors was planted by over 700 people in order to create one of the largest pictures but hopefully, as the industry grows the new records are to be set.
