Today I’m flying from Tokyo’s Haneda airport all the way over to Frankfurt, Germany onboard ANA’s Boeing 777-300ER. This is quite a rare opportunity to try a product flown on just a handful of routes worldwide, made especially difficult by Japan’s boarder being closed for the last 18 months.
As usual I’ll give you a full walkthrough trip report of what it’s like to fly such unique premium products, today onboard All Nippon Airways’ The Room. Experience the lounge facilities at Tokyo HND airport, onboard food, bedding and drink. What’s more I’m going to draw my conclusion on whether this is the world’s best Business Class directly comparing this to Qatar QSuite, my previously announced winner of this accolade.

I have a strong hate for Qatar so I like everyone better than them.
It must be done, and I'm sorry…
"YOU ARE TEARING ME APART, TREK TRENDY!"
In New Zealand, economy class is about this price.
Just flown into Japan today and I had the exact same FA that you were talking to at 8:12
Well quatar airways is way better
Thanks for the review. I used to live in Japan. One thing about Japan: the facilities are always clean, the food is always fresh, the service is always excellent, and the toilets are the world's best. Some customers may weigh these factors more than having a better seat, or cabin space, etc. The soft power of Japan's style goes a long way!
Why do you like to wait until the last minute to actually get to the gate on time to catch your flight? Is spending so much time in the lounges really that important? And do we really have to see the plane bathroom each time? (Eeewww…)
Thanks for the review. I am flying ANA soon, and this gives me a good insight on what to expect. Thanks!
Really funny that you used Nickelback to portray Canada. That gave me the biggest laugh out of this video, somehow… I thought you were going to use "O Canada" or Celine Dion, but Nickelback was perfect.
The room is nice – feeling of privacy allows easier sleeping… I say “feeling of privacy” because anyone standing can easily see over the partition. The cushioning of the “seat/bed” is very minimal though… if you are thin without much “body cushion” it’s not comfortable. Maybe add a “bed pad” to the pillow, blanket provided – would really help. What I didn’t like about the Ana business class experience is the food choices- Japanese or Continental. Japanese was always limited, and someone would come around trying to convince you to change your choice. Also on a 12+ hr flight, there are 2 meals – both the same choices. Really? For a $5K USD price tag, you would think they could improve their food choices on an international business class flight
A word about ANA service – flew with my family, business class. If you need wheel chair service – beware. They say they’ll come pick you up in the business class lobby in time for boarding – but that may not be the case. They didn’t pick up my elderly parents (85 yrs old), one with a cane – Forced to walk or we’d miss our connecting flight. I had even reminded the ANA customer service counter almost an hour before. Terrible customer service
Yes it is in my opinion.
Have been travelling all classes since 1978 including NH around 45 times and find it a great airline especially on the ground as well. You can fly JKT/TYO/JFK incl "Room" leg for 4k AUD return, great value in J and upgrade to F on points occasionally but no real difference.
Good articles and trips explained and well done always.
PS NH technically very safe and were launch carrier for 787s and Boeing did not mind as they were veryserious about all technicalaspects. I flew on first domestic 787 plane to Matsuyama and both captains had round 20 hours on that new aircraft although probably 30k between them.
where the hell install the camera??? weird angle
Well, at least Godzilla hasn't decimated the city in a while. 😁
Just had these seats on Narita to Chicago and it was spectacular. Love the videos
I think it goes Qatar, British airways, emirates and the ANA.
12 minutes of video. 2 minutes of relevant discussion.
03:38 why is there fake water 😛
One time flying economy class on ANA over the Ryukyu Islands I asked the flight attendant for some help identifying islands from the window and the route map. My language skills were good enough for me to speak with her in Japanese. Just before landing she came back to me with an ANA postcard on which she had drawn a caricature of me with a little thank you message. There weren't many people on that flight so I guess she had some extra time, but still she certainly did not need to do that. She was being friendly. I still have that postcard. Nobody beats the Japanese when it comes to hospitality services. ANA and JAL are great airlines. Japan's airports are great too. It might seem crazy, but I used to look forward to my usual 4 hour layover at Kansai airport. I liked the architecture and restaurants.
