► This little video is the first of a handful of video-postcards from Atami in Shizuoka prefecture, where I just spent the past few days. Being located by the seaside of the Izu peninsula, Atami is famous for its superfresh seafood. So what could be more appropriate, than showing one of Atami’s numerous old style seafood places?

This place, Irorichaya, serves both soft-as-butter sashimi, as well as grilled fish of all kinds. I settled for a sashimi-don, with 5 kinds of fish (maguro, kampachi, salmon, tako, aji) and a huge boiled turban clam on the side, not forgetting the mandatory miso soup and pickles. – Enjoy!
