WE COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT WE FOUND INSIDE | SOLHEIMASANDUR ICELAND PLANE WRECK



Dan and Chelle get another early start to their day to hike out to an Icelandic place wreck out on the edge of the ocean called Solheimasandur. They begin the hour long trek not exactly sure what they are going to find! Along the way they share shots from the evening before of the Northern Lights! They were so stoked to be able to see them from the ground! They were somewhat off in the distance, but still very visible and easy to catch on camera. After walking on the completely flat, black rock plains for about an hour, then reach the wreckage! It is unbelievable how beautiful such a tragic event has become. The plane is a US Navy DC-3 that crashed due to either a storm, lack of fuel, or possibly a combination of both! All five crew members survived, but it was decided to leave the plane where it sat and strip any sensitive technology. Now it’s a photographers dream destination. Dan and Chelle explore inside the wreckage, climb on top, and hang out for awhile enjoying the incredible scenery. Afterwards, they have a couple other destinations they need to check off their list. They head to Skogafoss followed by Kvernufoss waterfalls. Both were such amazing sights to see! Skogafoss is the more popular of the two, and is massive! Kvernufoss is lesser knows, but almost an equal in beauty and worth the short hike to its base. Once the sun set, Dan and Chelle head into the town of VIk for some dinner at The Soup Company and enjoy black bread bowls of their signature Hot Lava Soup. The days just keep getting better and better here in Iceland!
