WHAT IS SETSUBUN?
In this video, we’ll be diving into Setsubun, one of the country’s most beloved festivals. If you’re considering a move to Japan, this video is a must-watch as it gives you a glimpse into what you can expect during this exciting time of year.
Setsubun marks the start of spring and is held annually on the 3rd of February. It’s a time for families to come together and celebrate the arrival of the new season. The festival is known for its traditional practices, including the throwing of roasted soybeans to drive away evil spirits and bring good fortune, and the “Mamemaki” festival where participants dress up as demons and parade the streets.
Food also plays a significant role in Setsubun, with families gathering to enjoy a special meal, including the “Ehoumaki” sushi roll, and the abundance of street stalls and vendors selling traditional lucky foods.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to experience this unique and exciting festival if you’re thinking about moving to Japan. Thanks for watching, and don’t forget to subscribe to our channel for more great content about life in Japan!
