Pura (Luhur) Uluwatu) is a Balinese Hindu sea temple (Pura Segara) located in Uluwatu (South Kuta, Badung). The temple is regarded as one of the sad kahyangan and is dedicated to Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa in his manifestation as Rudra.
A Kecak dance performance based on the Ramayana is performed daily in Uluwatu temple at every 6pm on the cliff-side. The performance which is outdoors also shows the beautiful sunset at the background of the performance.
Though a small temple was claimed to have existed earlier, the structure was significantly expanded by a Javanese sage, Empu Kuturan in the 11th Century. Another sage from East Java, Dang Hyang Nirartha is credited for constructing the padmasana shrines and it is said that he attained moksha here, an event called ngeluhur (“to go up”) locally. This has resulted in the temple’s epithet Luhur.
GPDRR – The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is a multi-stakeholder forum
The seventh session of the Global Platform (GPDRR 2022) will be organized and convened by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) from 23 to 28 May 2022, in Bali, Indonesia, hosted by the Government of Indonesia. The event will be co-chaired by the Government of Indonesia and UNDRR.
The Global Platform takes place at a critical time: seven years from the adoption of the Sendai Framework and just over two years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This global crisis has exposed how underlying vulnerabilities and inequities have catastrophic consequences for the most exposed across the world. Prevention and the risk reduction agenda are essential if we are to achieve a sustainable future for all. The 2022 Global Platform will provide a unique and timely opportunity to showcase the importance of international solidarity and cooperation, as well as to discuss ways to tackle underlying risk drivers both locally and globally. Additionally, it will explore how to strengthen disaster risk governance and how to build stronger systems for managing all types of risks. GP2022 offers a chance for governments, UN system and all stakeholders to recommit, with urgency, to accelerate progress on disaster risk reduction towards the achievement of sustainable development.
The GP2022 agenda will be guided by the Sendai Framework goal, priorities for action and targets, the key priorities identified at the previous Global Platform held in Geneva, Switzerland in 2019 as well as those stemming from the Regional Platform meetings. The GP2022 will take stock of Sendai Framework implementation, recommend actions for policy makers, highlight good practices and raise awareness. The outcomes will be synthesized in the co-Chair’s summary and will contribute to the inter-governmental midterm review of the Sendai Framework scheduled for 2023.

For participants who stay beyond those area are requested to meet the tour guides / bus drivers at the Central Parkir ITDC Nusa Dua (ITDC Central Parking Lot) at 8.30 AM. All busses have signage “FIELDTRIP”
