The twelve days I spent in Japan back in January of 2019 were some of my favorites in my eleven years of traveling the world. I love this country so much. It’s clean and organized, the people are very kind and helpful, there’s tons of history and culture to explore, and the food is simply phenomenal. I’m so glad I got to come here and that I was able to share my time there with you guys!
With twelve days in Japan now behind me, it was time for me to begin the long journey back home to Miami. My homebound adventure began at Tokyo Station, where I needed to catch the Narita Express back to the airport. This train is the best way to travel between Narita Airport and the station.
The station is super busy and there are tons of liquid vending machines around. There are roughly 2.4 million vending machines in Tokyo! I wanted an iced coffee, but they were sold out. The Narita Express was also delayed, so my friend Haley and I went to look for a shuttle instead, but wound up taking a different train that takes a little longer than the Narita Express. That’s the scariest aspect of traveling: quickly figuring out what to do when your plans go awry!
I grabbed a cold, strong coffee, got on the green line and transferred to the Skyliner Airport Express for a 40-minute train ride to the airport. From Terminal 2, I’d take my American Airlines flight to Los Angeles. My bag was at the limit as far as weight! I chilled for a bit at the Admirals Club and then set off to the gate.
Then I caught my flight! I was on a 787 Dreamliner and slept maybe 6 or 7 hours. Even after a delay, we arrived only 30 minutes later than we should have. The in-flight Japanese food was really good.
I only had 30 minutes to go through Immigration and re-check my bag before my next flight, so I had to rush! I picked up my bags with 16 minutes to go and surprise – I ran into my brother Dennis at LAX! We were on the same flight to Miami!
And after an insanely long and hectic day, nearly 17 hours traveling, I was back in beautiful Miami!
I hope you enjoyed coming along for my insane travel day from Tokyo to Miami! If you did, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. Also please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already so you don’t miss any of my upcoming travel/food content!
