Winter Morning Walk In Freezing Japan | Asahikawa Station

I’m taking an icy winter walk in freezing Japan today, around the station in Asahikawa 旭川 the most northerly city in Hokkaido 北海道. Asahikawa is Hokkaido’s second largest city after Sapporo, and on this snowy morning, it’s a lovely place for a walk. I start my walk just south of the station, near the Chubetsu River 忠別川 . The riverside walk here is lovely at any time of year, and on this cold winter morning, it’s really beautiful. I walk through the park and then into Asahikawa Station 旭川駅 . Trains leave from here south to Sapporo, north to Wakanai 稚内 the northernmost town in Japan, and east to Abashiri 網走 on the east coast of Hokkaido. It’s really a wonderful place for a nice morning walk!
