  1. So good to see you back. We missed you!! We had a lunch yesterday at a local Italian Deli. We each had a sub (grinder) sandwich and a pickle and chips for $21. We are in Florida

  2. To be fair, Deana's lunch was big enough to carry over to dinner, if Phil hadn't munched on it!

  3. The self-service bakery chains are not my favourite. Okay, when you are in hurry (and you find nothing better) you can eat it, but mostly the products in these stores taste like cardboard. Some of the chains use convinient-dough delivered from Asia, it is not comparable with the quality in "real" bakeries. Exception: Their (cold) Pizza-pieces with Salami are surprisingly good, if you wish, they warm it up for you 2 minutes. 🍕

  4. That breakfast was way too expensive for that little food. And ofc butter with the honey!

  5. Places like Backwerk, Kamps and Ditchs are my go-to places for breakfast in Germany then the hotel wants 15-17€ for a breakfastbuffè you only eat 2-3 sandwiches and a coffee from it.

  6. I did not like any of Deana's choices. I don't eat sweets and I don't like seafood, oh well. The Egyptian rice sounded good. Thanks for the video!

  7. AAAAAAAHHHH!!! I've actually been to Dortmund! :DDDD

And I'm not born in Germany. But I think you are both somewhat right about the butter and bread thing. I don't need anything on my croissants. The best thing for me is a plain croissant with a nice espresso-based drink. Buuuuut, when I am really sick and have no appetite the only thing I can get myself to eat are Semmeln (Kaiser rolls for Americans reading this) with butter and honey. It's the simplest comfort food I've ever known.

  8. Nordsee used to be my go-to for inexpensive lunch, but then recently the bread I got had freezer burn, so that put me off of it a bit. There's a really nice place near Uni Wien that sells different curries every day and rice for less than 4 euros. Combine that with Anker or Ströck and a salad from the grocery store for dinner, and that's what I typically do, and it's usually a lot less than 20 euros. You two have inspired me though, so I am going to do this for my Instagram stories with the ten euro challenge finally since I have a month-long break coming up.

  9. Hello, 5 euros, 10 euros and now 20 euros, what do you get for food in Germany? It's great how innovative you are. The main thing is to do something, that's what it looks like. Next time 40 euros? Just as a little tip, if you run out of ideas.

  10. Don’t get me wrong, my love for German bread runs deep but mein Gott(!)… so many carbs. If you’re getting proper exercise it’s not an issue when you’re young but after 40 years old, your doctor will definitely give you a dose of reality.

  11. You must have stomachs made out of steel with all that food. Once again a great video. Greetings from Wiesbaden 👋

  12. Ooh…I've always heard about the currywurst in Germany. My friend visited there and said it's so good. I can't believe the Euro is equal to the dollar now. What happened? 1 Euro equaled $2.50 the last I heard. All of the food looked good. The Egyptian rice bowl; well, you got quite a bang for the buck there. It had a lot of nutritional value.

  13. Deana what do you mean that its only righ way to cut a breadroll in Germany? It's only right way to cut a breadroll anywhere in known universe.. 😉

  14. Prices are similar to ours in NW Ohio. Food is not expensive in the mid-west, except for the major cities. Sausages are loved here! I have a hard time passing a coney dog or a brat with kraut. I prefer potato salad to fries; I think it has to do with my age. One of the most inexpensive meals here is pork roast with kraut and mashed potatoes. Sometimes it's pork with cabbage, carrots, onion, and apples. But, Phil, there is ALWAYS some form of potatoes. We don't have many fish option Deana, except frozen and canned. We LUV Aldi! =)

  15. Good thing you two aren’t diabetic. Way too many carbs and not enough protein. So heavy on the breads. But most looked pretty delicious.

  16. Butter und Honig, Nutella + Butter, Butter auch unter Hackepeter/Mett oder Butter mit Salz drauf🤩 Butter is King
