How is it to fly NOK Air in 2023? Check out this 4K Trip Report & Honest Unsponsored Review on board a Nok Air 737-800 from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok DMK.

Hi there! My name is Kevin and today we will take a deep dive into the full Nok Air experience (or perhaps, lack there of). We will check out the terminal in Ho Chi Minh City, visit the Le Saigonaisse Lounge, do a bit of Plane Spotting, admire the interiors of our 15 year old aircraft and of course we will wrap it up with The Flip Flop Score.

This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that’s the way I like it!

  1. I beg to differ. At least on domestic flights, I actually prefer Nok Air to, say, AirAsia whose seats are harder and have less leg room.

  2. I think with inflation we will see more interiors like this. I wouldn’t fit in those seats. Sounds very uncomfortable. Think I would skip this flight.

  3. Thanks – good review
Been a while since I flew into ‘Dong Moong’ – you need to work on that!😂

  4. My first flights between BKK and SGN were even going around Cambodia!
Nokair: enjoyed them in the first years because you had more luggage allowance compared to Airasia. And there was the Nok+ option with wider seats and a pre boarding mini lounge.

  5. 5:44 this something I cannot understand. There is a huge supply of new/ second hand refurbishment parts. These don’t require high tech disassembly. And Thailand has quite some local manufacturing of airplane interior parts. So?

  6. Just a note that TG is not flying this route anymore; they have given it over to WE (Thai Smile) so VN is the only full service carrier left.

  7. Your bad experience seems to be due to buying a premium seat for a 40 minute flight, then finding the plane was half empty. Hardly the airlines fault. Nok we’re always my first choice for lcc domestic, as they had the best online booking system by far.

  8. Don't you know that NOK air is now filing for Chapter 11 ,in simple word "Bankrupt airline".It does not surprised me that NOK air is downgrading in every aspect.

  9. I flew with Nok Air 7 years ago, only twice (Bangkok – Phuket round trip). I remember having a surprisingly good impression: affordable price, punctual, free 15kg checked luggage, free cookies and water on board. I don't know about their service now, but I will likely choose them over Vietjet Air any day.
Moreover, I really liked their colorful liveries and managed to capture some photos at Phuket Airport.

  10. I am so sorry for what you had experienced. As a local, I am also pity the state of various government subsidiaries in Thailand. It’s another consequence from the biggest shareholder’s actions in the past since TG is in deep trouble therefore the subsidiary will also be in one. On the other hand, the biggest shareholder of TG is the government which is now also in another level of deep trouble, cannot look over their shoulder to pump up some money onto TG like before.

For me personally, those companies cannot even upholding their own values to project to the stakeholders. I would stay clearly away from them

  11. I flew Nok Hat Yai/ BKK in late Dec due to flooding in southern TH which forced the cancellation of my trip on the train. Nok was the only affordable flight by a long shot i could find for the following day. On time at both ends with a complimentary upgrade to an exit row window. Uneventful and not displeasing. No onboard service at all which felt oddly comforting as there was literally no commotion or noise beyond the engines.

  12. Glad i discovered this channel, really enjoy the flight reviews, looking forward to the Oman air reviews. Oh and any plans to fly Emirates first on their 5th freedom route to HK?

  13. Great video! You had me laughing pretty good there with some of your comments on the seats lol

  14. This is the one and only airline that was able to fly me from Phuket to Chiang Mai in the middle of the pandemic in August '21. Despite many (I would say all) airlines grounding their flights, Nok Air continued to operate and provided a crucial connection for me from Phuket to Chiang Mai after staying in the Phuket Sandbox for two weeks. I couldn't have been more grateful to Nok Air for their efforts to keep flying during such a difficult time. Nok Air, along with Qatar Always will always have a place in my heart for their services during a challenging time.

  15. I laughed at the Nok Nok joke a little bit too much than I care to admit. But please don’t knock serviceable budget airlines like them 😢 Not too much, at least 😁

  16. Flew with NOK today at 11:45 DMK to SGN on HS DBT a pretty yellow bird and have to say it was very comfortable.
The seats were different then the ones in the video they were contoured and had lots of lumber support extremely comfortable for economy
The seats on the plane in this video look more like the ones on VietJet or Air Asia Airbus although these ones were worn out and obviously had seen better days .
It was the first time flying NOK and have to say it was not bad at all and would fly again with them.
The flight was for 11:45 and push back was at 11:45 you would think you were on a Japanese train .
I usually fly Vietjet another great Airline cause it flies to the new airport BKK .However flying out of DMK was not bad at all , the MRT and SRT are almost as fast as the Sky train from BKK and just as easy to use .
DMK is a old airport and shows it’s age but it’s easy to navigate and the traffic is nothing like BKK
So once on the plane it’s a fast taxis and no line up to take off so no advantage to using the new airport except it looks real nice .
Interesting that the NOK air plane I flew on today is still flying at night and is on its 7th flight around south east Asia and wouldn’t be surprised if they do a 8th flight
Surprising how these planes fly around the clock guess they have to pay for them somehow
The flight crew to SGN at 11:45 all had carry on luggage so imagine they are staying away from home somewhere tonight .
Overall a great flying experience and great flying by NOK AIR they greased the landing in Saigon .
The all female crew were absolutely gorgeous in their bright yellow dresses and my only complaint for the flight is that the dresses should have been cut much much shorter
A micro mini would be nice .
