Amanohashidate is a natural sandbar located in Kyoto prefecture. It’s one of the top three scenic views of Japan.
On this video, we try some local specialties including Clam Udon, Clam Rice Bowl and Miso Dango. Then we walk across the entire sandbar to the other side, where we board a cable car to the top of a mountain to get a bird’s eye view of Amanohashidate. Finally we bike it across the sandbar back to our starting point!

I ride like an old lady – it might be less exercise, but it's still some! I'm hoping to visit Japan next year, our daughter will be 4 years old. We actually think that she will like Japan like we do, Japan really has attractions for all ages.
What you do for your viewers every time you post a video, Shinichi, is making a big difference. Lifting spirits, opening minds, and allowing many of us to experience places, cultures, and people we might otherwise never get to experience. You and Satoshi feel like friends to many of us, which is especially important to those of us who are shut in. And another thing which is very important to me is that your lives together quietly but strongly advocate for LGBTIQ people everywhere. Never doubt your value, my friend. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Shinichi-san!!! 🎂🎉🎁🎈 Wishing you many, many more happy, healthy years.
The scenery in Amanohashidate was beautiful, walking/biking with you was so much fun, watching your interactions with Satoshi made me feel warm and happy, as always, and the food looked delicious. Thank you for the beautiful day. Love to you both. ❤❤
I want you guys to take the Orient Express on a future trip… I would to see Sitoshi on that iconic train.
I thought about going there on my trip next month! But thinking its still too cold to swim in late march. Might save that for a future summer Japan Trip! A nice jog to the beach, swimming, going to observatory, ice cream and bike ride is a great experience from the looks of it!
Guys, thanks for all of the Kyoto videos, we are enjoying them!!
Here you make us taste the Ocean 💙 Sinichi and Satoshi Sama "You are not a drop in the ocean, you are the Entire Ocean in a drop" Sufi poetry by Rumi seems painted in the sky 💙 so blue because we love youuuu 😃🤙
Looks like an amazing relaxing place. The walk up to the restaurant gave me Mama's Fish House vibes from Paia HI
It's been over 3 years since the start of the pandemic I sure would love to see Japan 🖤
your videos are my NIGHT CAP in a good way, so yes you guys r doing great, thanks so very much…love n enjoy your vids
Hey Shinichi and Satoshi good to see y'all enjoying your yes love clams anyway cook love this video thanks for sharing take care stay safe 👍🥰😍🤩🌈💯🙏👍😘😘❤️
Your videos mean everything to me. I have very bad health with a chronic incurable illness. I will never be able to see japan in person but I've always wanted to live there and explore. Your videos are the next best thing and bring me great comfort and joy. I love seeing the country and the food experienced through you. I really can't say anything that would thank you enough. Yes, you do make a difference in the world. It may be small when we think of pandemic, war, economic collapse…but all most of us really have control over is helping those around us in small ways. Bringing a little more light and love into the world. Thank you for sharing your light and love, your life and your beautiful country.
I always find it funny that those mountain cable railways are called "funicular"
I think I've suggested this to you before, but you should offer guided tours! It would be a good way to show Japan to people, connect with fans, make some content, revisit old favorite restaurants and bring them business, and make some extra money!
Your videos always make me happy and long to visit Japan again. Hopefully sooner than later! <3
Thank you guys for sharing us your great moment of your life, it's always lovely !!!
Mariam from Brussel 😘
Thank you for your hard work! We love your videos
Your videos are great! I think you both bring happiness to thousands of people through your videos. I've learned a lot about Japan and Japanese culture from the two of you.
You don’t have to do much to help others and make the world better. Spreading positivity and curiosity like you two do with every video absolutely helps people.
You both seem to get alot of exercise with all your traveling and finding interesting spots! You inspire me to get out more, even if I just do it in little increments at first. Just wanted you to know that YES, you are doing things to make the world better!! 😄💞
I wish I could ride a bike. I’m not good at walking, so riding a bike would be good.
HELLO😀 YAH 😀I DIDN'T have 2 wait 4 the 2nd 12 of the Dragon LOOKING crossing. THE FOOD 😋 😋 😋 looks SO AMAZINGLY APPETIZING SO PRETTY ❤
I was having a very bad anxiety and depression day and I really loved this video. Seeing the world and exploring with you guys means so much to me. Seeing an older gay couple living, thriving, and enjoying life means so much to me as a queer person. And, being disabled, I get to travel Japan and the world with you all.
I would love to go to Japan and meet both of you!! Thank you so much for your videos! They always raise my spirits.
Ever so lovely as usual 🥰💞 ty gentlemen
Stop me, if you have already answered this question. Are there any plans for your Okaa-san to visit Japan. I hope that she can this year. Warm thoughts for you and your family in Japan and Hawai'i . 💖
I am planning on traveling to Japan in fall. I am also learning Japanese.
Really reminds me of Oahu❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Happy birthday. 😇👑🌏🌎🌍💚
Hi we are visiting October 4th to 17 th 2023. loved your video and the Kawagoe one also . thankyou for helping us plan our itinery
Hey there! I’m Andrea from Miami, FL and I’m going to Japan with friends October 27- November 9 this year 🙂 love your channel, it too makes me happy 😊
This location is so nice! I’m slow at walking so biking would be slow too hahaha but I like to take in everything I see and appreciate the each moment. I don’t want to live a life like an assembly line but I think Satoshi embraces exercise as a gift and not a chore so we all appreciate things differently and each way is a blessing 💚
I think I bought similar seaweeds at the store and didn't know how to eat them. I will try to make them vinegared too! 🙂
I was pleasantly surprised to see Satoshi eat first, and give his commentary👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Shinichi – Don't worry, you are definitely making a wonderful, positive difference to many, many people's lives! Thank you so much for all that you share, but more than that – you are just a lovely person. Even you just being you is a blessing. The same goes for Satoshi 🫶
Excellent vid and I can’t wait for the continuation!! Thank you again for all you do.
wonderful cannot wait to be there coming in april may be we can meet.
You really are making such a difference!
I enjoy seeing you both so much and my husband and I are SO happy whenever you upload a new video.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and your wonderful personalities with us all!
Really love watching your travel videos! Can see Satoshi looking happier and more energetic as he gets older which shows he is living his life to his fullest😊 makes me happy whenever I watch your videos so pls continue making more videos!
I will probable never get to japan, i get to see it through your videos. thank you.
I will be coming to Japan from nyc for the first time in April! I will be staying in Tokyo for 3 months! I hope we can have dinner with you two when we are there! 😃😃
Oh wow I loved your bike ride videos. You were talking of investing in an electric bike. I loved those bike rides you rode so far and showed us so much loved it.
On days where my physical issues weigh me down, & I know I need to eat but am just not hungry, I put on your videos. Having a “shared” food experience really helps! And seeing the different foods generates my interest to try new dishes. Tomorrow I’m going to make a crispy pork belly & rice recipe. Honey, oyster sauce, light & dark soy sauce, toasted sesame seeds, sesame oil & green onions. Just listing it here makes me look forward to cooking!
Thank you both so much.
i ll be in Japan for 35 days ! tks to you i ll be at Amanohashidate for 2 or3 days !
As many others already said in these comments you guys are already doing the best for a better world. Your kindness is already everything that this world needs! I am very grateful for your videos. Through your videos I could learn about new sides of Japan. For someone who is still young and broke & being scared of the world today. Your videos are always cheering me up! おつかれさまでした!
Another excellent video Shinichi, as are all your videos. This one was super relaxing. I will try to get to this destination on my trip to Japan in November.
So glad you are having several good days! Your videos really do good. you provide so much information about Japan and the culture of your life. NEVER forget that many of us cannot visit Japan in real life, and we therefore rely on you to give us an understanding of Japan. Don't ever doubt your presence online.
