A tough day in the snowy backcountry as I battled the extreme cold and deep snow. A rough start to the new year, but in the end I was happy with the images I captured and learned some valuable lessons.

Enjoyed the video Shaun. I like the second last shot. I have a love affair with trees here in Japan, looking for magical shapes.
May get to Hokkaido one day, but now based in Hiroshima. Take care.

Shaun,
Congrats on the 200+ subscribers! Before you know it, you will have 1K, then…..and then…. LOL!
Your second shot is outstanding! The brown of the trunk and branches, the white of the snow, the blue of the background. Superb!
Look forward to the next adventure with the cranes and waterfalls. Good luck, and take care.
Ahhh the rode mic didn’t make an appearance. Love it bro. Stay warm.
The shots you ended up having be your favorites were my favorites too! Fantastic video that was educational, entertaining AND made me cold just watching. Well done. ❤
Great pictures! You look so cold .
Nice images Shaun. Already at 211 as I write this so well on the way to 300🙂
Congrats on 200 and to more, Shaun 😁 a great challenging outing, but you captured some beautiful images. That winter landscape looks magical. Superb 2nd shot.
Nice. Agree with the sentiments 1:49
What a beautiful shots of nature. I felt like I was right there in winter woods! enjoyed your footage.😊
great work.💯💯
For all its beauty, the winter landscape can be so difficult to capture! Understand your frustrations Shaun, and it's easy to beat yourself up about it, particularly as you had certain shots planned in your mind. But most of the time, things don't go according to plan. I've found most of my favourite images were taken when I had little or no expectations – and these were my most enjoyable shoots too! Cut yourself some slack (you deserve it) and you're right – keep persevering. Your second last image at 8:10 was a testament to this – just gorgeous! I really liked your second image too 🙂👍
