I walked in Aomori city again on New Year’s Eve. I started from the station, there was a funny art installation made probably by kids. I walked to Utou shrine busy with New Year preparations. Then I got to Shotoku Park near the port. I visited Aoimori park where I saw many crows last time. This time there were many crows too. Before going back to the station, I visited neighbor Hirota and Ryu shrines.

    I remember your last walk when you were there. It was one of my very favorites videos. It was magical with the snow falling and the good cheer of the people. Glad to see the crows are still in the park. It looked so different in the dark.

    just for your information – The average snowfall forecast during week 4 of January for Aomori Spring (Ajigasawa) is 40 cm. There are typically 5.8 snowy days during this week. Ajigasawa typical weather and snow conditions during the last week of January at the middle elevation of the ski area at 658m, based on historical averages over the previous 15 years: At this time of year the average freezing level (150m) is slightly below the mid altitude of Ajigasawa. Reliably snowy weather is average in Ajigasawa at the end of January.

    With respect, those things at the very beginning appear to have gas bottles in the boxes they are mounted on and gas pipes running to them so I am guessing they are lanterns which are lit inside at night? You have some pretty sophisticated kids in Aomori if they are able to do gas fitting!
