This is the problem with sitting browsing the internet. A quiet Tuesday evening quickly becomes a very early Wednesday morning with the alarm going off and me questioning what I booked last night. But this was the only moment of regret, once I arrived in Ireland, I knew I was onto something pretty cool. Originally I’d thought a wee overnighter in Cork was the plan. I’m so glad I went the extra few miles to Cobh – It is genuinely one of the coolest towns I’ve ever visited, with everything I look for – sea views, ships of all description, friendly, laid back locals, and a proper Guinness 🙂

Join me on my short time in Cobh and discover some of the history this small town has to offer. And yes, I’ll also take you for that pint.

Filmed on location in Cobh, County Cork on 22nd/23rd June 2022.

  1. Hi all, I seem to be getting spammed on the comments section of this video! You may get a comment which is obviously not from me but with my picture. Please don't reply to it, and apologies, I'll report it!

  2. Oh that was a wee trip down memory lane. My mum took me on sailing holidays to cobh when I was in my early teens right up to early twenties in the 90s. Spike Island was still a prison. I remember beaching there once and being very careful to stay below the tide line as to not get in trouble from the guards that came rushing along the road. There are many other stories but one I think involved the Roaring Donkey!!

  3. A lot late but some more info on theTitanic, the survivors ended up in NYC they stayed in a building that is now The Jane Hotel, it was a Sailors home and institute. Over time it kept its heratige with the sea in the rooms (Cabins). Its worth reading the history for anyone interested in the ship and the events around its sinking.

  4. If you had stayed on the 226 bus it would of brought you directly to the train station. Also the Cobh connect bus is cheaper

  5. Been here 3 times for a day to Cork from Manchester (Early flight there and late flight back on Wednesdays) love it.

  6. My Great Grandfather grew up in Queenstown now Cobh. He immigrated to the U.S.A. via Scotland in about 1884. His original trade was merchant ship Captain. He later became a head salesman for a manufacturing firm in the U.S.A.

  7. Thanks Steve that was an absolutely fabulous video I’ve no idea how I missed it when it was published 🥂
