I have owned every X100 series camera to date and I absolutely love them. There are a few things that hold them back though: Having only one card slot for such an incredible camera is just sad to me because I would definitely use the X100V for weddings almost primarily. They are also limited to focal length which really doesn’t bother me, just going off of other photographers preferences on that one.

  1. That is a Very good upgrade.! everything of the V but with extra's. P.s. are you using selfmade Filmresp.? or standard in Camera.

  2. I sold my X100V for the price of a new X-Pro3, which was a no brainier. Build quality is on another level to the X100V and I love the philosophy behind the camera. Such a beautiful piece of kit and opens you up to the fantastic world of XF lenses.

I agree about the battery and IBIS. My second camera is the X-H2S and it would be great if I can share batteries between them. May be in the X-Pro4?

  3. I wish Fujifilm would build more lenses like the 18mm f2 and 27mm f2.8 though. I think the size of those lenses really suite the rangefinder-style bodies of the X-Pro and X-E bodies especially for "life documentary" photos.

  4. My sub monitor and LCD broke down 2 times on my Xpro3 so for me this camera is done , ill get it repaired one more time and sell it. I think the later Xpro3 models dont really have this ribbon cable break issue anymore but i had one of the first released versions.

Its a beautiful camera for sure but when im too scared to even open the LCD because it might randomly stop working the fun of using the camera is gone.

  5. I love my X-Pro3 to bits, the only flaw I can find is that much like the X100V it isn't entirely reliable as compared with previous Fujis. I've had to send both to the repair shop. But for the design, feel – the simple pleasure of using – both are the best cameras I've ever used in ten years of shooting. Also regarding smudges, rub your thumbs over the entire casing so it's one big smudge, step back and admire. It actually looks pretty fine in a different way if you do that, and you don't have to be perpetually getting your cloth out to 'clean it up'. The 18mm f/2 works great with the X-Pro3, and I just use my 18mm f/1.4 for the low-light shoots. Photo book of the day: Letizia Bataglia: Photography as a Life Choice. Anyway, enjoy the X-Pro!

  6. The X-Pro 3 looks pretty dope but I like the portability of the X100V. I do love the idea of the screen being hidden. These are some sick shots man, glad you're enjoying South Africa

  7. Great photos Hunter. Love the xpro3 but really hope the 4 has the same screen as the x100v. One use case for me is photos of my kids. Would prefer not to always have to flip out screen to do so. Also, do you shoot your wedding with Fuji or Sony? Just curious. Have a great trip!

  8. If you dont use back screen, this is a very nice camera. I love mine! But if you use the screen a lot, it is not convenient first. And some reports of broken back screens are concerning to me. I hope Fuji will stop making the hidden screen. I prefer if Fuji will just eliminate the large back screen, keep the sub-screen but make it backlight capable, give the camera a bigger, better EVF and a dual Magnificat OVF like before, and build a reliable app to connect the phone to the camera when I need to see a bigger screen, just like the M10D. That will be a perfect x-pro body.

  9. Hunter bro, there's no such thing as a perfect camera. Your M240 and a 35mm lens was all that was needed. The Xpro3 is a big beast and all these different lenses. What's all that about? It's a great discipline shooting 1 body and 1 lens. Then all you need to consider is the scene in front of you and zoom in and out with your feet. Just my $0.02

  10. I bought the Xpro3 for the 2nd time after owning the Leica M240. With the 27/2.8 and the 18/2 its so lite compared to the Leica.

  11. Own both cameras in the end creep more towards using that x100v as I just don't think twice about grabbing it last minute . Either way enjoy your new gear

  12. After near forty years as a working pro this was the camera that made me fall back in love with photography. And the 'no-chimp' screen was a very big part of that fall. Not chimping takes me right back to my Leica M4 and my Canon AE1, and all the film cameras I cut my teeth on. The process with the Pro3 is a very fluid, organic and altogether intentional one, and takes you to the very core of 'making' images: looking for them, not reviewing them. Constantly reviewing takes your head away from the important 'making' side of the process.. Nowadays I can't wait to get back to the MacBook and have a look at what I've got. Just like I couldn't wait to get back to the darkroom.

Finally, there's something lovely about the Fuji glass matched with their sensors and colour science. I never, ever thought I'd do this but after decades of using Canon's very efficient but relatively characterless cameras and lenses I've switched, partly due to the above, and partly due to the 40MP sensor on the X-H2. I now have a bigger, and an altogether nicer image for my clients.

  13. TBH, I simply can't see anything special with this camera. I feel that it is simply just hype and the XT-3 can deliver identical results and so can dozens of other MFT and APS-c cameras on the market. I've tried the film simulations and most f them reminded me why I prefer Kodak and Ilford films in my 40 years of photography.

  14. Excellent photos man, they have a great energy to them. Were all those photos pretty much taken with the viltrox 13 mm 1.4?

  15. Beautiful images, bro! The xpro3 is simply beautiful. Always thought of adding one to the kit, but I have too many Fuji’s already lol

  16. I really Leica my XPro3. 😉 I've been really interested in the X100V, but you've reminded me of what the XPro3 has to offer. I've added a Gariz leather case to my XPro3, and like the protection and slightly better grip it affords. Just beware, that there have been reports of LCD screen ribbon connection failure. Some people attributing it from fully deploying the LCD screen all the way down. Subscribed! Let us know how it goes with your XPro3!

  17. I recently got an Xpro 3 (actually the day just before Fuji announced they discontinued it!) and my Leica TL2 has just sat in its bag ever since. I have the 23mm f2 R WR on the XP3, and the Summicron 23mm f2 on the Leica. Overall quality of the lens goes to the Leica lens without a doubt. Everything else…absolutely the Fuji. The AF is lightning fast where as the Leica is pretty much only good for stationary objects. The Fuji has weather sealing, the Leica doesn't. And there's a few other things. I think the biggest factor I'm finding is how much FUN I have with the Fuji. It's just a blast to aim it at anything and everything, trying to take a good picture of whatever the subject matter is. My only gripe with the XP3 is I wish fuji explained the "recipes" and custom settings a little better. I read the manual to try and understand how to create and save recipes, but it didn't help at all. I had to hit Youtube to learn how to do it. If there's an XP4, I hope fuji makes it so that you can hit a button and switch between your custom profile and a factory profile. That would save a ton of pain instead of having to go into settings then change profiles manually.
