We went up Mt Fuji the next day, the 5th station is as high as you can normally go outside of the climbing season but the road to the 5th was closed due to snow so we got bus tickets to the 4th. The 4th isn’t that exciting, its just a small shop and an area to look down really, after a while there we discovered that the road to the 5th had opened but our bus wasn’t going up there, our driver did get us on another bus that was going by at the time so we did make it up to the 5th which is much nicer. There is lots of snow up there in April (one of the snowiest months) and several shops and a shrine.

We were a little worried about getting back down since we didn’t come up on our bus, but the route normally does come up to the 5th and so we managed to catch the last one of the day back down before heading back to Kawaguchiko and our second hotel there, again another ryokan.
