I love the way the Japanese are so uninhibited, contrary to our (or rather, my) image of the culture, but I could not cope. When I go to Japan, as I hope one day I shall, I will definitely be staying in the modern westernised hotels with private bathrooms. Communal bathing – even the risk of it! – is not for me! Maybe I would think differently if I was not so weight challenged. Give me a body like Daniel Craig's and I would no doubt cheerfully bath with all the paparazzis of the world watching, but as things are, private bathrooms are a compulsory component of my existence!
