Visiting these hot spring bathing snow monkeys is one of the best things to do in Japan! They’re a group of Japanese macaques that live in Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano. Since it’s often cold and snowy there, the monkeys have learned how to stay warm by bathing in the hot springs.

To get to the Snow Monkey Park from Tokyo, take a Shinkansen to Nagano. From Nagano Station, you can take the express, Snow Monkey Park bus (or a train) to a small village called Yamanochi. Then it’s a 40-minute walk to the entrance of the park.
