We travelled to the breath-taking Togetsu-kyo Bridge. It crosses over the Oi River and is very famous of the autumn leaves and cherry blossoms in spring. It’s the most iconic landmark in Arashiyama.
Before travelling to Japan, we pre-puchased our Sagano Romantic Train tickets. It is a sightseeing train line that runs along the Hozugawa River between Arashiyama and Kameoka. Its old fashion, slow pace presenting the beauty of Hozugawa River with forest tress and Sakuras will give you the relaxed and lovely feels.
Going for a second visit, we headed to Keage Incline, Yasaka Shrine and Maruyama Park.
Keage Incline is a famous spot for viewing cherry blossoms. During Sakura season, the trees blossom over the old rail tracks. You an literally sit on the tracks and take beautiful photos or just stroll along under the white and pink Sakuras.
The Yasaka Shrine or also known as ‘Gion Shrine’ is one of the most famous shrines in Kyoto. Just a walking distance from the shrine is the Maruyama Park. The park gets very busy during Sakura season. The main attraction of the park is the tall Shidarezakura (weeping cherry tree), which gets lit up at night.
Ending our day, we visited the famous Gion of Kyoto. If you are lucky enough, you can spot a Geisha (Geiko) walking along the busy streets of the district. The night brought the rustic and urban sides of the area.
Again it was a very tiring but amazing day for us. It gave us another reason to cherish and love Japan as we travel and experience what this lovely country has to offer.
We doze off through the night with Kobe Beef in our heads, excited for tomorrow to taste its majesty.
