Amanohashidate is a natural sandbar located in Kyoto Prefecture, considered to be one of the three best scenic views in Japan. On this video, we drive from the seaside village of Ine to Amanohashidate. We check out the view from Amanohashidate View Land, where we feast on some local food.

  1. After living in Okinawa, I am so used to insects and geckos all over my house lol.
I love Amanohashidate, we go there for a beach day from Kyoto in the summer. Btw. I went on that chair lift. It's very relaxing:)

  2. I know how it feels when you see insects, I recently had a terrible experience in the Philippines regarding that. My nervousness and anxiety kicked in, and I couldn't sleep at all. I was trying to make the best out of it after the insect situation that occurred to me right before I was going to bed.

  3. It is stunning, but those bugs would scare me! I looked wharf roachs up and they do look alien! So sorry guys 😞!

  4. 26:29 – The 'hole' is the literal meaning for the word in sino-japanese that has a cognate in the Sanskrit Sunya or nil, zero, or Meta: something more, incalculable. Possibility. 空 शून्य. Like Amanohashidate 天橋立 being the place to stand to see the path to(view of) heaven(s)/ platform of the bridge to heaven/sky viewing…

  5. I’m so sorry guys I am unable to finish watching this. I have a death fear of bugs. That’s due to my upbringing so sorry. I hope this does not hurt your Chanel to I’m doing this?

  6. I looked them up, Wharf Roaches,, they are family of a Isopod, they are so cute!! But hey, I'm an insect lady. I have Isopods at home and Sun beetles and giant Centipedes. The food looked good. Thank you for the video. 🙂

  7. Wow. The building must have serious structural or plumbing issues to have so many roaches come in at once. A lot of people brush roaches infestation off, but roaches carry a lot of diseases and can cause children to develop lung issues.

  8. The Amanohashidate area was the first place we spent multiple days traveling on the Sea of Japan side. For travelers who visit Kyoto and want to see another side of Japan, the Miyazu area or Kanazawa on the Sea of Japan side are just a few hours away by train.

  9. Hello guys how are you doing you are better then me the first time I would have let it go the second time I would have had to leave and find another place lol

  10. Looked up wharf roaches. They're actually kinda cute? For an isopod, I mean. I don't like roaches but this is like if a roach was a part pill bug and part shrimp. But, yeah, I totally get not wanting them crawling around indoors, especially when trying to sleep.

  11. Love this adventure with went on the beauty of land love theses kinds of video thanks for sharing take care stay safe ❤️😘💯🌈👍❤️😘🤗

  12. Hi Shinichi, Great Video, Loved the walk along the sandbar and the scenery was picturesque, beautiful views , would be nice to visit one day. Arigato. Looking forward to more videos 😀👍

  13. Ahh I’ve had so many of those bug scary stories in the middle of the night!! Thank goodness for all the Satoshi’s in our lives 😅

  14. Yep been there with a roach situation in Spain once we asked to move rooms, still didn’t help. It was hell. Ruined the holiday for me.

  15. Ach my nightmare. This is why I don’t like spiders – after finding one crawling on me during the night.

    Beautiful area though!

  16. Shinichi you are VERY smart, please don’t sell yourself short. You understand people, and that is a rare talent and a gift. Book smarts don’t matter if you can’t connect with other humans, which you do brilliantly. Love you!!

  17. Can't wait for part II of this Video. Charming hotel room….too bad there were Wharf Roaches. That would totally ruin it for me. Food looked great and the scenery was stunning. Maybe that 1st place you stayed should think about fumigating.

  18. Remember the big flying roaches in Hawaii? Those are little in comparison. Sorry about the sleepless night. ☹️

  19. —– You are really quite ridiculous at times Shinichi …..quite the Priss – —- But …..THIS time I understand ! – — I really feel for ya this time Shinichi ! – — How awful ! —– The management should have warned you both about this and maybe they should have also given you a large net to drape over your bed to keep those nasty bugs out ! !! —— The resort management should maybe refund you —– at least let them know that they should have a BUG NET OVER THE BEDS in those rooms in that area where those wharf roaches are mostly at ! ==== BED NETS is the answer —— and a friendly warning before you book the room —

  20. I visited amanohashidate while living in Otsu in 1987. Such a beautiful, serene place. Brings back lots of memories.

  21. Natsukashi❤ it reminds me my first time in Japan. This is the first place my father in law took me! We went for a swim 🏊‍♀️

  22. The Wharf Roaches are actually isopods, related to rolypolies or pillbugs. They are a little freaky, but they eat algae and are cleaner organisms in shallow waters and shores.

  23. dang I wouldn't be able to close my eyes at all when I knew there were disgusting things like those wharf roaches shocked
I actually do have a phobia beeing scared even of butterfly ! (I don't mind spiders though) and when I stayed in Japan I had Cockroaches in my home and there were so many other big insects everywhere which I have never seen in my Country …. was a very hard time for me so I can feel with you.

As much as I love Japan this is really hard for someone who can't stand insects.

  24. Wow that looked very fun. I have never been to that part of Kyoto. The Omikuji fans were super cute. Waiting for the continue.

  25. I told Gary about the wharf roaches. His first question to me was…..’you do know where we’ve seen them, right?’ I was clueless, until he said ‘we have them on our islands.’ LOL We both play Animal Crossing: New Horizons on our Nintendo Switches. They’re much cuter looking in game form. 🤭

  26. This is fascinating! Thank you for sharing. I know you are not a fan of insects, so I hate that you had that particular experience.
